marco uccellini
I have just started to use radiosity, so this is my first attempt. The model is to scale, and is lit by IGES Sun and Sky and 6 photometric area lights in the ceiling. I need to improve the render especially the floor shadows (where are they?) and the splotchy effect of the wall and white and yellow wall etc. I will also need to render the final at very high res - 2000 pixels - will my settings for radiosity change to get the smooth lighting effect I want as the render resolution increases? My setings are: Final Gather Regather Rays 250 Filter Radius 5 Adaptive Sampling 16x16 5.0 2x2
Ricardo Eloy
Hi, Marco! There's more to radiosity than just regather. Post your other settings (meshing size, iterations, initial quality, etc) so we can help.

The Initial Quality = 10%, Global Sub=0.1m except for the floor=0.01m. Refine Iterations=0. Marco

Ricardo Eloy
I believe you could get a good looking pic using your initial quality between 65-85% and adding about 3 iterations to all of it.

d7man2000
looks like Microsoft Paint will be your best friend. the trick with radiosity is the bleeding of colors and textures, you have to modify each texture to get a decent render, I was never completely happy with radiosity.
