radioVOY
Im a user of Photoshop V7 since it was launched, but now i saw some nice features in their CS2 release and I'll like to try it, but there is an issue: When you save a targa *.TGA with a transparent layer Pshop 7 reads the transparency as an alpha chanel, so i use this feature a lot to import texts to my videos on After Efects, text that you can save with a shadow drop that look smooth and very good on videos and without dealing with mask layers. But with Pshop CS when you save a targa with a transparent background and you impot it to another program, CS do to the transparency the same as you was saving a JPEG: you have a text but with a withe background, I dont know if is an option that you can disable, i need my alpha chanel without masking. So if anyone knows how to disable this feature in Photoshop CS and i can make to Photoshop to reads transparent backgrounds as an alpha chanel in TGA's please share. Thanks in advance for your replies.
BrianKitts
select your layer transparency (select-> load selection-> layer X transparency) then go into your channels panel, add a new channel the first one it creates is by defualt the alpha channel. Use the fill tool to fill the channel with the appropriate white/black and then save the image as a targa (use the selection box for save alpha)... it should work as it did before for you. radioVOY
Thats the issue, with Ph7 to have a alpha channelk in targa you just had to set your bacground as transparent and everything but the upper layers would be transparent.
gfa2
have you tried different file formats that support transparency? like .png?
