I tried sending this in email three times, but it would not go through so i thought id post it here. This crit is based off the most recent image.

Looks good. I think the reflection on the floor is too strong leaving

it really blown out where it reflects the outside. I think it would be

good to add a soft shadow being cast onto the wall by the table and

flowers on the left. You could do this by making the shadow color

white,

light color black, and use a negative intensity. This will cause the

light to only cast shadows. You could try with an area light, or shadow

mapped spotlight. You fixed the horizon, which was the first thing i

noticed with the older renders, it looked like the building was

falling.

That's a nice render. The female figure adds a lot to the ambience without looking ridiculous.

My only crits would be the difference between the interior and exterior light conditions, a lack of detail on the window frame and the mirror not being 'grounded' on the wall.

Apart from that some artifacts are slightly detracting but I'm sure they will be sorted out.

Good to see something a bit different.

Working on the weekend's too?

I still wonder whether the background image is working. I see this woman, dressed as if she is ready for a night on the town, but the sky is very bright and the sun seems a bit high.

The light from the lamp looks great on the leather chair, although I wonder why the lamp is on with all the light coming through the window. Perhaps if the background were more like dusk (not the nuclear sunsets you see so often) you could still keep the backlighting and silhouette that is working so well, and take some of the brightness out of the sky. The lights in the neighboring buildings and on the bridges would also help to emphasize the city below and not so much the horizon.

My two cents.

Hi Brian,

Yeah, I keep debating. We will have actual dusk photography in the near future. Trying to get a good image for the website intro page.

I need to keep playing with that - the sun angle is actually very low thus the long shadows - the photo is the big problem in my opinion.

But good call - the wheels are turning.

Here is the current version. I've messed with the color a bit more.

Very classy. Myself, I think the image would be more fitting if the woman was still and looking out into the distance, thinking about the man she loves, and not moving across the room (worried that she hasn't prepared enough for the party) - but I understand we must work with the materials we have at hand, so the motion blur may be necessary to enable matching of the scene.

As usual, Paradigm seems to improve with each project.

Thanks Allen,

Here are a few versions with the brighter floor - which I prefer. Client wanted a bit more "sepia" which is one of these as well.

The motion blurr as well as the soft focus on some of these has more to do wit the emotion than the original images - the image I have of the lady is high res.

My lady is floating now - need to fix that.

1st one - raw render

2nd one - soft focus, a bit warmer

3rd one - soft focus, much more sepia

Thanks. Just caught a few more slight mistakes

The mirror.. My background image didn't extend over far enough, so it was just showing the yellow "sky" background.

Fixed the wall - had some oddness going on including a hidden object casting a shadow, etc. - all is gone now.

Thanks for everyone's crits and praises here and at Lightwave3d.com

I'll post the webpage later today or tomorrow.
