jlpena
I recently upgraded from VIZ 3 to MAX 7 thinking that all of the functionality of the former will be on the later and then some, but I can't find the Ortho or Polar toggles, you know, to draw Walls in straight angles as in most buildings. Tim Saunders
hmm... not so sure about that feature. I usually just draw them from top, front, back, left or right views. Then move or rotate them as needed. I assume you are familiar with the axis constraints? They help. If not let me know.
jlpena
The axis constraint work for creating lines, and for moving, copying, rotating, etc. I couldn't make it work for creating walls, the Ortho/Polar is similar to AutoCAD's
Tim Saunders
Just hold shift between clicks. That keeps your lines straight in an ortho-type fassion.
jlpena
I try that already, holding Shift, Ctrl or Alt, and still doesn't work, did you try it on your computer? Thanks for the help.
Tella
By default, by pressing shift while drawing a spline (i.e.) will force straight lines. I didn't know there was an ortho or polar mode, but when you asked I made a little research and found out that the commands are there, but you have to customize the shorcuts. In Customize > Customize user interface in Keyboard tab just seek for "Ortho snap toggle" and "Polar snap toggle" and create the shortcuts. You can add the buttons for that too by dragging from toolbars tab to any toolbar. Cheers.

Bugga_Guy
I hate to break it to you but the max/viz ortho polar don't work, you have to get max 8. I had the same problem as you trying to search for them, but I finally found the answer in the autodesk discussion board, they have the buttons, but they do nothing! in order to find the buttons goto customize user interface (right click on any button shortcut under the "file, edit etc" buttons" find the commands "ortho and polar" in the list and drag and drop to any where in you existing interface shortcuts. but as you will notice when the buttons are activated, they do nothing. I just got max8 and the buttons work. I guess for now you have to use the shift button. It was autodesks biggest mistake to get rid of them in the first place. Tella
I am using max8. Sry, I thought it would be the same in 7.
