Terror Posted January 29, 2006 Share Posted January 29, 2006 Hi everyone! I'm new to CG I started using Max only 3 weeks ago, ive been trying to learn it through the tutorial inside it. My problems are: When ever I creat an object, lets say a flat box, then I cut out a circular opneing (using boolean, or extrudeing splines), then when I convert it into an Editable Poly, first I get an unwanted edge on the plane wich has the opnening on it, second when meshsmooth is applied (Iter. 1 or more) the hole disappears and I get this really wierd looking "box". I hope this all makes sense. See the attachments. Thank you for any help you can give me. Maybe I need a different modeling approach... notamondayfan Posted January 30, 2006 Share Posted January 30, 2006 mesh smooth is useless in this situation, so just use chamfer or connect to make it appear smooth. as for thr extra edge, i wudnt worry about it. have u tried applying the Cap Holes modifer on the object, before u boolean? this might get rid of the edge.
