ki_cz
I've been using 3ds max for a lot longer than this question probably lets on, but it's a function that I've always worked around and never really had a 100% use for ... now, with roof shingles, I need it ... Q: how can I snap to the edge of a object when cloning? Like say, I have a box, and would like to clone it 10 times, and have the edges touching. Up until this point I've never really had the need to do a tonne of objects and have just used alt-a (align) to do it 'manually'. Thanks!! notamondayfan
u cud try cloning it once, then align, then clone both, and align, then clone all 4, and align, so u basically only align 4 times, instead of 10.
Tella
Let's say we have to clone the box: select it > turn on snaps to vertex with "S"(RMB on snaps button to set it to vertex only) > lock selection hitting space or with the lock button (botton middle) > while pressing "shift" drag from one vertex to the other and release > in the clone options window select the number of copies you want > the copies will move the same distance one from each other. Another way of doing this would be with tha array tool (Tools > Array) Cheers.
