notamondayfan
hey guys, a quick prob that has been buggin me this morn. i have 3 faces all that apear the incorrect colour. its basically a plane, ploy modeled, and then ive use a multi sub material for its texture. i have tried other textures, and sub object numbering, but still the colour apears. i have deleted and remade the faces several times, and im positive there arent any hiden back facing faces. by the way, im using max 6, with vray free, GI and 1 direct light. thanks, dean
STRAT
tried unifying sll the normals?
notamondayfan
jus tried that, and nothing. also 2 note, if i delete another face, along the same plane, then create a new one, this newer dark colour is applied 2 it too.
STRAT
in that case it sounds like your not quite doing your submaterialing correctly. try it as a separate object in it's own right without the need for subobject matertials and face numbering. notamondayfan
right, i have tried deleting the faces, and replaced it with a seperate plane, but using the same coords. then i have used the same material, and its still loads darker. ive hidden everything in the scene, so theres def no shadows being cast on it. any ideas? STRAT
have you tried making it a separate object (not connected) with new coords? how does that work?
noi-pi
.....perhaps the face has a different smoothing groups? You could check that one too.
notamondayfan
tried both them, and still nothing. when i move the verts by huge amounts, say to make the face 45 deg, instead of vertical, the face then becomes slightly lighter, but it ruins the model.
