Claudio Branch
I am lighting an outdoor, large-scale urban environment. I am using a Skylight with a Light Tracer. I am using a mapped sky-dome as well. I have several camera passes to render so my sky dome adds the needed realism. My skylight illuminates my sky dome well enough, but everything else in the scene darkens and even goes to black. Remove the sky dome and all is well. I need a solution that allows me to use the skydome and gives me the ease of use that the Skylight and Light Tracer provide. Any ideas anyone? BrianKitts
quick fix is to go into your skylight and tell it to exclude the skydome so that it doesn't see it, and casts its light on the rest of the model. Then give the material assigned to the skydome and give it a self-illumination value so that it shows up as well
DennisHolland
Right click your skydome object and choose 'properties' from the pulldown > uncheck 'recieve shadows' and 'cast shadows'. Dennis
Claudio Branch
Skylight will not let me exclude objects, but selecting properties on the sky dome worked great! Thanks for the speedy solution!
DennisHolland
This is also a very handy thing to know, if you want to use a target direct light for a sun. It cast light trough your dome....
