Ernest Burden III
The Turkish Pavilion... also named the Ottoman Palace... I'll start it next week ! That sounds promising! How close to completing the main Fair site are you?
lemog
How close I am Ernest ? don't know, or not sure, or maybe I don't want to know... I'm far it's sure... 14 pavilions completed + some detais... and more of 120 to do... ...it's also the reason why I don't know if I will be able to do all... and in ohter hand, not all the fair was interesting... I will work step by step, part by part... the first will finished in january... I hope to finish the second at the end of the summer 2007. But as this event was very rich, I will try to do a first movie before... with by exemple the first and the second part... that will make certainly around of half-hour of film yet. I will prepare a trailer at the end of january, to show a kind of preview of the real first documentary... certainly around 4 minutes...
Argie Urbanite
Thanks Argie... I'm just sorry for you, but at firts view, no real pavilion for Argentina during this event... certainly many products expositions at differences places in the World's Fair... I will post information here if I can have something precise... Hi Lemog, for what I know there was an Argentine pavillion, wich I searched for in the internet, finding this: ``Argentine pavillion in the París world´s fair in 1889. Designed by the french architect Albert Ballú´´ Wich was then de-built and brought to Buenos Aires in 1910 ``Argentine pavillion in Buenos Aires´´ And here´s the supposed location of the pavillion in the fair. All data taken form this page: http://www.clubdelprogreso.com/index.php?sec=04_05&sid=44&id=2788 (it´s in spanish) Talking about this in another forum, people confirmed me that this Argentine pavillion actually was in París world fair. Maybe you can do some research on you own to find more about this. I´m at your service in case of any cuestions. Greetings
lemog
Hey Argie... good to see these photos and the link to this website is great (no prob with spanish... the mother of my wife is spanish)... Of course, I know well this one... but it's not the good fair. There's as you said a fantastic Argentina pavilion in the World's Fair of 1889... the one when was built the Eiffel Tower... but I'm actually working of the Fair of 1900... accross the centuries. The one of 1889 interested me a lot too... but for the moment, I must focus my forces to the one of my project... for sure, I will be glad to the one of 1889 too in 3d... there's much incredibles pavilions too... it's also the reason why I have much documents about it... Here's 2 engravings I have about the Argentina pavilion... If I will find more interesting photos or drawings about this pavilion... I can post it here if you want. In any case, I could also post here informations about Argentina participation of the 1900 World's Fair... ...and thanks for your interest man ! Argie Urbanite
Those pics are great Lemog, thanks for sharing them If you find more, don´t hesitate to upload. Ok, so this pavillion was made for the 1889 fair and not for the 1900´s fair that you´re working on But you say Argentina participated on the 1900´s fair?? nice to hear that!! Any info will be welcomed. Anyway I didn´t know there had been an international fair in 1889, I just knew about the one of 1900... so two fairs in 10 years, with all this architectural show off in each one ??... thats amazing!! you never cease learning in these forums. On the other hand it´s a pity I will not get to see the Argentine Pavillion made by your 3D skills, I would have really liked it. I will continue enjoying the pavillions as I allways do... I´m really looking forward to seeing the Turkish one!!
lemog
Yes... during a certain period, there's much regular World's Fair in France... the first was in 1855... and at the moment of the second in 1867 they decided to do a new one all the eleven year... that give, in 1878, and in 1889 (especially famous because it's the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution), and of course the one of 1900... ...a long period without nothing followed with the WW1... France back with Fair with the famous "Decorative Arts Exposition" of 1925. ...and in 1931 with the "Colonial Exposition", also incredible event, a true travel around the World. To finish with the last one in France, in 1937... very famous too, wich was especially sacred for the Industry and New Technics... I have much interest for each of them... each one was more of interesting and incredible... ...but before, I must finish the one of 1900. The other expo are a dream for the moment... I just hope to do also them one day...
Yaseck
It's such a shame, that there was no such a country as "poland" at the time... :-( God damn all the wars!
lemog
You're right Jacek... very sad moments for your country in these time... more of one century without independency... until 1918 ? not ? Even if there's no poland pavilion in this fair, I hope you'll continue to follow my project anyway ;-)

clum03
I can't believe I flipped through all 47 pages in one sitting. It was worth it. Because of the scale of this project is so big I was expecting the quality to dimish but by the 30th page I realized that was not going to happen. The quality of your work has remained superb throughout. Your passion for this project is evident and I applaud you for your commitment. This is one project that I will definetly be keeping an eye on. Every now and then I will post to keep you motivated. P.S. You really got a strong command of Maya. If you wrote a book I would definetly buy it:D. But please finish this project first.

You really got a strong command of Maya. If you wrote a book I would definetly buy it:D. But please finish this project first. Few years ago, I've writed in a technical Maya book... but unfortunetely, only in french... and now, this book is not avalaible. In any case, I've planed to prepare a book at the end of the project, of course about the Paris 1900 World's Fair... Now it's time for the update... with the finished tower...
