Yes, most of my Egypt photos are like those. I hadn't seen your works, but I am very familiar with the old drawings you based them on. The photos I have are from a slightly later time when the monuments are beginning to be dug out and re-assembled, but right at the start of that time.

About your paris project--do you have some overall shots to show how big an area you've made so far?

I imagine your photos must be very interesting... it's a great period for me...

Here's a picture with all the world's fair in yellow... the actual Hungarian Pavilion in in orange...

(clik for a larger pict)

Geeze! After seeing that image with the areas shaded in yellow I now realize the scale of the project. I can't help but wonder why your doing it. Don't get me wrong, I don't think your wasting time by any means, but has someone commissioned you to do it for a television documentary or something? Something with this much work has got to be for much much more than spare time fun. Your getting paid for it right?

Brian Cassil -> Thanks man...

Timothy Saunders -> I understand you Timothy... that can appear very strange to start a big project like that, just for the pleasure.

It was a new passion in first... about this World's Fair... and I've decided to do lonly a series of stills images... 10 or 15... something like that.

And during my research about documentation, my passion grow up in the same time... and the idea to puch more far this project comes in my mind...

For the moment, it's only a personal project, because I don't really know if I could to push this project until the end, and that, for many reasons... Family, job, time, computers... and at this point of the project, I don't want to take engagements if I'm not be able to continue the project.

I already made a reconstruction movie for a medieval french castle (with a friend), which was diffused on the french TV... insteresting to do... but not a great experience with this channel (and with this friend)...

Then, I prefer to wait... maybe that can give something at final... but front of the amount of work... I prefer to keep humble and work with clean mind... if you understand my point of view. Maybe it's a error... don't know. ;-)))

Brian Cassil -> the "life" part will be certainly one of the most important addition, but also certainly the most difficult... we will see...

Well... now, update time... texturing is done... I hope you like... of course, there's around many materials... but as this pavilion is a mix of many styles...

Georgeous! I wish I had time to do a project like this for fun. I hear you on the life part. I'm finding that in the work I do I spend less and less time on the actual architecture and more and more on all the additive elements.

You're right... and for this project, I'm really afraid about this point... I will have scenery very heavy with just only all these pavilions... but I don't have any precise ideay how this weight will increase with these additional elements... argh... ;-)

...well, the Hungarian one is finish... no rest... and an another one...

The one just at the right side of this previous one, the Great Britain Pavilion...

normal_ap32v_023.jpg

This one was inspired by an english manor of the XVIIe century, situated at Bradford-on-Avon...

The face is really similar... but there's much differences on sides... about the back face, I don't know how the original is...

hall_bradford_01.jpg

And now, the first step of the modeling... the ground floor of the face, only the middle for the moment.

I hope this one will be finish in 1 week... more simple... and less polygons too...

yep, pretty nice work..

i would just keep going with this...

hope you go into close ups..

projects like this always create a lot attention..

also, i really wish today we would build more as such

the post modernist designs don't grab you as like the historic.

Thanks for your words Raymond...

In this project, I'm sure to used the same time to build than to search documentation... as you can imagine, is not always easy to have the important information needed.

It's a personal challenge too... with passion. The first thing which interesting me, long time before to really envisage this project, it's the diversity... so much styles are present here... and each nation tried to show what they are of better on it...

I'm not architect, but totally fall in love for this mini-world... in this Wolrd's Fair... I really can't exprim my own feeling... I can turn pages of these books during hours, with always the same curiosity, always the same avidity, always the same pleasure, and the needed to discover more, to learn more.

Of course, I can't show exactly all... too much pavilions, houses, buildings, etc... so much sculptures, so much decorations... impossible to do all... I will try to show you a little part of this incredible World's Fair, as I can, but of course, more simple...

Thanks for your interest...

(and sorry for my english, I don't know if I'm alwasy completely understandable).

your english is fine.

for us who have it as a native tongue

we are still quite confused with it..

don't be surprized if you get some handsome offers for this type of work later on. people love looking at this... its like a resurrection...

if you do some animations that will dazzle a lot...

stop by for lunch someday... i am only a couple of oceans away..

Hahaha... the ocean here is quiet different... something as cold actually...

About animations, to preserve the motivation and the interest, I will do certainly much animation during the realization... as the "fly around" posted few days ago...

Time for update now...

I add some details, as corniches, sculptures, balcony and chimneys...

normal_wip_gb_005.jpg

Also started the back side... with much imagination... it seem to have some little towers... then...

Update time...

Face really done... and the left side :

normal_wip_gb_007.jpg

And the back side seem to be finish too... just missed the 2 lion's statues...

normal_wip_gb_008.jpg

As you can see... there's a difference of level with the backface, as for the Hungarian pavilion, the street behind is lower...

For the next update, certainly the quay, and some little details... if needed...

I must finish this one this week... next week I will be in holidays... and of course... no PC... or not so much icon10.gif

youp... about this place... behind, there's the nation street... and I saw on a photo something as a little kiosk, I really want to do it. This kind of details can be very important to give life... and animation...

...but for the moment, I only have this photo, a bit short... must search for more now...

kiosque512.jpg

Remain the problem about trees to fix... and street's lamps too... there's many of the both... again more polygons it mean...
