awesome work, dude

did you say you are going To do an Animation of The Train????

or do a fly-Thru of all of This project from Pavillion To Pavillion?

This is so way cool

Thanks Randy... what is planed as animation ? just "ALL" the fair... but step by step, regarding to the amount of work...

As there's many interesting parts in this event, I've planed to do a documentary about each of these parts... the first of these is about the first 15 pavilions now finished. But this first documentary will be not finish before next year. I must finish to write the story, associated to the description of these 15 pavilions... I will do that certainly during the summer...

In few days, I will show you a little animation, wich could give a precise idea of the documentary look, with some aimated shoots of each pavilion... a kind of trailer.

...but I already continue to work on the next part.

I'm curious as to what the second phase is exactly?

The second phase is an another alignment of pavilion... you sax the first range of 15 along the river Seine, but there's a street just behind, with 8 another pavilions... Danemark - Portugal (already made) - Peru - Persia - Luxemburg - Finland - Bulgaria - Romania... the map

But before, I will try to do the 2 bridge over the Seine, at each side of this range, "pont de l'alma" and "pont des invalides"... and each bridges have its own footbridge, to cross inside the fair.

This part is planed to be done for Juny...

After that, even if that would be logical to do the other side of the Seine I'll certainly start an other part, very interesting, build along the Seine on 260 meters... "Le Vieux Paris", a reconstruction of a Medieval Paris... you enter near of the Alma's bridge in the XIV century and you leave at the other side, at the Debilly's footbridge in the XIII century... certainly an interesting part, original and maybe funny... thie medieval paris was created by a french drawer of this time, very famous, Mr Robida... a guy a bit like Jules Vernes... very imaginative and good drawer... I will certainly helped by an association, specialists of this incredible imaginative drawer, himself a medieval specialist...

I've planed at least 6 months of work on this part... that drive us in february 2008 !

As you can see, the story is far to stop...

Wow laurent, I have been following this for a long time now, and Congratulate you for achieving this result! I admire your work & your drive to continue this for already a year now!

haha, I second Brian on that steak dinner ;)

I'm looking forward to somekind of overall presentation of the first part! Congrats!

Glad you appreciate this work... my wishes are really to go very far with this project... my main problem is to find spare time to work on it... it's not always easy, it's also the reason why sometimes, I'm afraid to be obliged to stop. Fortunetely, cheers to guys as you all, you give me the good motivation to continue... it's very important to have you advice along this long realization... this support is unbeleivable... thanks for all good words !

Well... I'm late... but the story continue...

...with the second range of pavilion.

The first one is the Danish Pavilion. Not big as the latest pavilions, but pretty and very sympathetic... (the portuguese pavilion already made is visible behind, on the first photo)

let's see some references :

hey bro, i have doubt..

how u understand scale and proportions just by looking an image, or u r doing a guess work...?

I don't know how he do! may he's magician!!! but I for some projects without measurement and with just some reference, Just start from some place and then will continue it! Scale is in life and it appear much easy that you think! of course it's from my eye and may it be different for other but it's about me!

My first references are all objects knowed on the photos... as people, chairs, or the structure of the moving sidewalk visible on the first photo... I know this part have the same size all around the fair... 7 meters.

Of course, it's not always very precise, but I try to do my best... and the experience certainly also help me...

Scale is in life...
exactly !

Nice to see you back posting bro ;)

BTW, doors, windows, roof angles or other things can help you to define the real size of the building...

all things are a good help... just in this case it's hard to be helped by doors and windows, because each pavilion as it's own style, and that could give too much different sizes for the same thing, just depending to the country origin or the historical reference.

My best reference keep the people... but sometimes, like the first photo posted, the people are added on the photo, and there's much scale differences ;-) hahaha ...before Photoshop !

Hey congrats on the CGTalk front page

JHV

Thanks Martin... just discovering that this morning :-D

Well... here's the elements together with the good scale... (I hope...) Not easy because the Danish pavilion was made very late, and was not on the maps I have, or just planed and of course the place and the size was not good. Also I don't have any photos with the danish and portuguese pavilions together.

I've also modified the moving sidewalk wich make a curve at the danish pavilion angle...
