I think wood material is too warm and too dark! or may you can give lighter material for detailed objects in woody parts (details in triangles).

Just I think!!!

Too dark ? I don't think, these wood parts are describe on my many books as very dark... and maybe my version is not enough dark comparing to the real one... but difficult to be really sure without color references of course...

Yeah for sure there are many things we'd probably like to change, but Lemog is on a mission to try and replicate the experiance the way it actually was, or as close as he can get to it.

@ Lemog - Personally I can never crit your stuff, or question your knowledge on this subject. Peace.

All your advices are always welcome... I don't know all... and as you could imagine, I don't have precise details or informations about all... and the only solutions wich remain me, is to do these details with my knowledge and my tastes... and maybe it's not sufficient at each time ;-)

Anyway... thanks to you all for your interest and you comments here... !

Hy Lemog

I havent posted for half a year or so, although I pop in here every now and then. Few days ago I finished a huge project (100 times smaller then yours though;-) and I was lookng along the net for inspiration, and I remembered your Paris project, and popped in here, to se how are you comming allong, and wow, I am still amazed, and I see that you have a constant stile, which brings a smile to mi face. I like the "clay rendering" style as well as a textured versions.

I am glad that you are still realising your dream.

keep it up

Hey what's good everyone?

Lemog your work is still the best i have seen with maya. I have been studing maya and ready to start my project.

I want to start modeling the exterior of my house.

I have my autocad files (dwg.) of all four elevation and plans. (2 sty. house)

Now what is the best way to set up the plans in the viewports?

I would like to see the rear, front, left side, right side, and prespective view, so i could model the house.

maybe importing the dwg. files and frezing the drawings? I don't really know.

I hope you guys could tell me the best, fastest and easiest way on setting this up.

I am working with autoCad and Maya 8.5

thanks so much

hey dude.. wht bout poly count.. do u have a limit for every building ?

Yes... I've planed a limit... but finally, that depend especially of wich pavilion... I couldn't have the same polycount limit for the low norwegian one and the very detailed Italian pavilion.

I've decide at the beginning to be near of an average of 50 000 polygones for each pavilion... some of them have less of 25 000... and other detailed have more of 200 000 polygones...

In other hand, I don't want to limit me too much, I prefer to keep a constant quality and especially a constant level of detail. Even if that could be harder to manage after, when all parts will are together.

For the moment, of course, all these pavilions together don't give something very light, but I'm really satisfied to be under the million of poly, for the 15 pavilions and all their quays...

My Good Wish is Always With You..

Thanks man... I'm just sorry to be a little bit late actually... the next pavilion is not ready to start...

...thanks for the motivation.

I am glad that you are still realising your dream.

Yes, you're right, the dream comes true... I wish you the same, and for all people here... sometimes, it's very hard to find the force, the time, and the motivation... but that enjoy a lot my life... it's the most important. Thanks to stop here Andrija.

Sincerly, I don't know what is the best way for you because in my project, I don't work with autocad files... for the majority of buildings, I don't have any good and precise plans... generally, I work only with photos and I used the knowed elements to have a idea of the scale. I could assure that's not always easy... and sometimes, it's very long because I must redo some parts many times.

The only times I used dwg files in Maya (there's a long time)... they need to be reworked a lot, because all elevations and plans comes in maya in the same level... I know know if now, with the latest version that could be managed better. But these drawings could be a good base to model cleanly and precisely in Maya.

I wish you good courage for your house realization !

Holà Eduardo...

glad to see there's a peruvian friend here to follow the reconstruction of the Peruvian building... even if the pavilion move in Peru after the fair, it seem to have some differences with the original... the left part with the kind of hall with little tower is not visible on the actual one... also the first second stair is now more large than the 1900 version... it miss actually also the little parts on the two towers... but of course, not easy to compare properly with only 1 almost good photo, as you can see :

In any case, I will do my best to keep the good feeling... certainly the most important...

(update soon)

that's the Center for High Military Studies!!!!

i didn't know it was the peruvian pavillion in the world fair. i was told it was a steel building, so it could be dismantled, and it is confirmed by the fact that it could be brought from france. i know also that there's a eiffel steel building here in peru, a church in tacna.

i can't take pictures of the building because it is a military site and i could end up in jail...:(

keep it up!!!

cheers
