scooter
hey mate... I know this file was not totally optimized, but in the final one, they will be more elements, other things in the environment, more animated people, of course, trees will be differents, it also missed the electric train, the Paris background... that will be composited for sure, I could do only like that, even with a strong computer... ...and about the format, as it remain me many years before the end, I prefer to be ready with better technologies... and these larger resolutions as HD... the PAL size is good for today, but I'm trying to already think for "tomorrow"... Also, less right in the case of MR... the renderer software of Maya is really better in larger size... especially in this case of very detailed pictures. And about the Maya64b... remember, I have the license for Maya 5, only... hahahaha... Bonne fin de journée poto ;-) OK!, I see you're a visionary. But in a few years from now, you will probably have faster computer also (hopefully ) I didn't mentionned that it was my Maya 6 (32bits) running 20% faster on XP64! lemog
the wood is interest for me but red part..hmmmm... it's not interest! I think these colors aren't match goodly. maybe... but it's the real colors... I saw past year the real restored boat in the museum... all metallic part are black painted, certainly because the very dark smoke, especially when the chimney was down to pass under the bridges... and the roof was also in metal, painted in red... ...I suppose you're a bit disappointed, you don't imagine the colors like that... don't forget, I'm working with a museum on this boat... ;-) In other hand, something could be better for your eyes, these wip renderings are made with MR & FG... without the good lighting setup of the other scenes, without the final mood wich give certainly some contrast less accentued... Another pics comes soon...

Eduardo Exactly that, in first I've drawed each sections in Illustrator, after imported in Maya... disposed as on the plan... and make a loft... and of course small tweakings... Ernest Burden III
I always prefer your models untextured. That way shows the wonderful forms and details. The boat is pure modeling genius. Next...model fish.

Guest nazcaLine
beside your incredible modelling skills, the key int the ship's case was documentation...that drawing of the sections of the hull is awesome. i don't know if you ever heard talking about the "Huascar", it is a peruvian armoured battle ship of the XIX century. I always wanted to model it, but documentation is always extremely difficult to get. as far as i know, there's no original plans in the english firm that built it. i managed to get some drawings on internet, some of them really valuable. but not as detailed as i would like them to be. Eduardo p.s. keep up the excellent job.
