Have you set up a basic overall scene--the extents that you are modeling? The image you posted (with yellow) was huge. Its always useful to see your models in their sited spots, even if they are not completed yet.

Yes... I've create a particular set-up for this WIP... but in fact very simple... 3 colored spots... very usefull to have a good feeling about detail and modeling... and that permit to really understand how scratch lights and shadows...

I don't like to present modeling in progress as only snapshot or odd rendering... I really love "images"... and my main attempt is to have each time something pleasant for eyes. And of course, some well pictures are always very motivating... very important to continue to work quietly on a long project like that.

But this kind of lighting is not figed... I really like to have some different rendering for each project, for this one, as I have much work to do and many rendering to do, I've tried to find a set-up with a very low rendertime... less of 2 minutes in this case, but the most greddy is the reflexion on the ground, but I like that in this case, that contribute to have a better vision of the details.

I don't know if you see the little flyaround that I've posted few days ago... but for this one, the setup was different, but always with 3 spots, the rendertime for each pic was inferior at 20 seconds per image... in HD size...

I always have much interest in rendering, searching better solutions... to trying to save time... while using basic renderer, and not necesserly some expansive or special render software...

Much people don't like the Maya Software Renderer, but it seem to be really interesting, if we take time to understand it.

Still looking excellent! Are you texturing each portion as you go? I loved the texturing you did on the hungarian pavilion. Aside from the superior modeling you have shown, your texturing is great. If you have been texturing each stage/pavilion, I think we would all love to see the examples like you showed on the hungarian. Unless your waiting to unveil the rest for the finished product. This is a fun thread for sure. Worthy of an interview/article of ot's own once your finished. Estimate your progress on the modeling, 50% more?

Hi Timothy, I will texture each pavilion, if not, it will remain me too much work of texturing at the end...

...I will post here each step, with no secret ;-)

My only problem, is to find time... but other pavilion will come... I've planed an average of 2 pavilions by month, modeling + texturing... I must try to respect this time... but the spare time is always very short.

About the progress on modeling, I'm very far of the 50%... depend especially if I will be able to do exactly all the project... if not, I'm certainly between 2 and 4 %... but in my goal, I've planed many "big" steps... I'm on the first part of the Nation's street, with 15 pavilions... my first goal to finish in september or october...

...after each "big" step, I will decide if I continue, but I need to always keep the motivation, it's the first time I have a big project like that.

I've already some big project, but not at this point... a one was a french airplane, I rebuilt all the pieces inside, I work on it something as 1 year... and an another one project, more near that this one, the reconstruction of an ancient dungeon in my country, a work very interesting, with many historic seaching, and a little movie. But as you can see, this new project is really bigger.

Sometimes, when I think to that, I'm a little bit afraid by the amount of work, but that is finally very exiting... I must continue...

Thanks for your interest Timothy...

Well... as you can see, 1 week without update, hehe... holydays for me...

but now, that can continue, I will finish to texture the little place at right of the British Pavilion, and in the middle of this week, I will start the Swedish Pavilion... with its incredible design...

Wow !!!!

Big big project.Actually i have never seen the project which is big like that.I look forward your update.I hope you will finish this project soon.Keep great your work.:) :) :)

Thanks for your wishes... It's really helpfull for me you know... as you said, it's a big project, very big... and I'm not sure to be able to finish it, it's a real personal challenge... the future will give me the answer, thanks for the support.

Your work is very inspiring!

Could You tell us what has happened with all these incredible pavilons and buildings?

What's happend with all these Pavilions ? as for many World's Fair, the major part was destruct just after... for this one, just remain some little pieces, houses, details, in Paris...

The only big building again existing are the "grand palais" and the "petit palais"

In the same time, I trying to do some search to maybe find more trace in the world... by example, a greek friend of mine found few days ago the existence of a orthodoxe church near athens... maybe the Greek Pavilion of this world's fair.

I'm also waiting more informations about the Ecuador Pavilion, after the World's Fair, it was planed to move it to Gayaquil...

The tower of the japanese pavilion is in Belgium...

If you are interesting, you can take a look to this website, with some vestiges... sorry, it's in french ;-)

A first little animation test for the River Seine... with the British Pavilion in background...

Click on the picture below to watch the movie in Quicktime Sorenson3 - 480x270 - 20 secondes - 5 mo

Remain much work, but I think that can give a certain idea about what could be this project... we can imagine with the other pavilions... some trees... some boats on the Seine... and the crowd... then patience ;-)

The beginning of the entrance of this swedish pavilion...

if anyone can have an idea about what can be on the circular part at the top of the balcolny, it's welcome... maybe something as a head of the king of sweden... or armories... don't know for the moment, and it's not visible on photos...

This is my favo(u)rite thread running.

Keep up the good work.

Agreed. You really have been providing some interesting content for many of us. I think anyone could provide a lengthy story to go along with a project like this, but what suprizes me is you keep producing impressive modeling, great rendering and a cool topic to boot. so thanks from all of us.

Thanks Timothy for your words... it's also my goal while posting here... I know... it's not really a wip as many others... but while posting here, I mean that can have an interest for many points...

Of course... technics of creation... even if I'm not an architect, to see much different styles of architectures of the world, and of the time... that can be inspiring, enriching... that make a big part of my motivation in this project... we can also find in that a magical side... as I often said... these world's fair are really precusors of attraction park... a disneyworld before disneyworld...

Thanks to find interest to follow this realization.

What!? Better than the "best vis studio, best rock band, strat's mullet" thread!?

JK, this is really a fantastic journey we are on here.

Hahahaha... you're right mate... It's the only one interesting thread here... of course ;-)

hi lemog great modelling skills

could plz tell me how u did the arches in the round tower and also in the image below

About this top, nothing complicated... just a half little cylinder duplicate around the cylinder of the tower...

All these little half cylinder combined together, joind with poly... then edes extruded toward the top... I hope it's enough clear... my english is not very perfect...

If not, and if you want, I can do a animted gif... but not for the moment... I'm little bit buzy... just ask me...

Update... the middle parts... left and right... as you can see on the 2 pictures, these parts are not symetrical... certainly to manage a little way at left between this Swedish pavilion and the one of Monaco at it's left.
