lemog
er...uhmmm when are you going to put some materials on these and a nice background. nice models but.... I will finish the modeling of this third pavilion today... and I will start texturing tomorrow... that will be very strange I think... this pavilion was covered with little round wood tiles... yellow/ochre a little green... and wood color... with some white parts... I'm sure that will give it a very strange aspect... ...but finally the weird aspect of it in 1900, as I can read on many books about this World's Fair... Be patient Raymond... I'm not enough spare time each day to work on it, very busy at work, and a fully family life... ;-) (even if I don't sleep so much... hahaha)
lemog
Yeah... the modeling of the swedish pavilion is now finish... And with it's own quay... just need a statue with a cavalier... at the right corner...
RAYMOND
Well at least you are getting a lot of nice exposure thru this forum... have to admit its a very nice distraction from the ussual blend... assume the Effel Tower is on the list... I believe this was a World's fair structure even tho it was started in the late 1880's?? sure this will bring more fun work like this to you..... aloha, r

I believe this was a World's fair structure even tho it was started in the late 1880's?? sure this will bring more fun work like this to you..... aloha, r Yes Raymond... the Eiffel Tower is on the list, because just situated in the middle of the "Champ de Mars" part... this tower was effectively build for the previous Paris World's Fair, in 1889... a very interesting on too... I also have much documentation for this one... Now a little animated flyaround of this Swedish one... (textures come very soon now...) lemog
Now the textures... of this Swedish Boat... all made in wood... with little colors tiles... yellow-ochre-greeny for walls... brown the roof... and some little white touches... and of course, very important in this pavilion... the marins flags... IC
Fantastic. I've been following this one closely. I'm continually amazed at how much detail you're getting from pretty scant reference. I'm surprised someone actually criticised the lack of textures during the modelling wip-isn't that the best way to model? Finish modelling, then texture. lemog
Finish modelling, then texture. and it's especially right when the model can be modified before the end... that permit finally to save much time... and to have a better quality of texturing, while set up these textures together... thanks man ;-)
Guest nazcaLine
sacre bleu, c'est fantastique!!!! hey man really wish you luck in this project...i wish i had half the passion you have on this personal challenge. couple of questions: i assume that you model "by sight", since you have no real measures of the buildings, right? so you do all these little details on your own? wow... and , when you finish the project (we all hope so), will you join them in one single monster file to make an aerial view, for example???? good luck and keep posting... RAYMOND
wow that is amazing so good in fact, i will print it and post it on my refrigerator.... this is the kinda stuff i want to do.... did the Finish have a palvilon at this fair.. r
Tim Saunders
Still looking great! Love those flags. I'll be honest though... The mats on this pavillion aren't near the quality of the others you posted.
lemog
sacre bleu, c'est fantastique!!!! hey man really wish you luck in this project...i wish i had half the passion you have on this personal challenge. couple of questions: i assume that you model "by sight", since you have no real measures of the buildings, right? so you do all these little details on your own? wow... and , when you finish the project (we all hope so), will you join them in one single monster file to make an aerial view, for example???? good luck and keep posting... No real measures for these already built pavilions... just some maps not very precise... the photos... and sometimes, while reading my books... some informations as the high or length... for the rest, I try to estimate measures while helping me with the peoples on photos... and much imagination because some sides of these pavilions was never photographied... or just a little bit visible, far behind an another one, with bad quality... For the final... I've planed to do an animation... a flight to visit the entire world's fair, in an airship of this time... maybe a one of Alberto-Santos Dumont... a fiction story of course... as if this guy take with him the camera material of Thomas Edison or Lumières Brothers... did the Finish have a palvilon at this fair..r Yes... of course, just behind the first part of pavilion along the river Seine... I planed certainly as the 17th one... after the first serie of 15 biggest Nation's Pavilions... a little photo for you of this Finish Pavilion... very interesting so far... with a marvelous entrance named the Squirrel's Door... Why do ask that, are you finish Raymond ? Still looking great! Love those flags. I'll be honest though... The mats on this pavillion aren't near the quality of the others you posted. I understand well your thought... this pavilion give me a little bit similar feeling... for many reasons... a design very different... and material not usual with colors again more unusual... Of course, these little woods tiles seem particular... but I've tried to follow some advices of swedish friends... while mixing with informations of my many books... ...and as I've readed on many of these books... the journalists said often that this pavilion is very original and strange... very different look that the other pavilion... very different... we have the proof here. I don't have the pretention to say that what I done here is perfect, not of course... I'm not sure at 100% about the real look and of this strange global color... but you seem to have the same thought that the people who discover it in this World's Fair... already a good point. But I can assure you that I will do more test during the continuation creation... I've time now that this one is finish... maybe I will find something better... to follow then... I will post 3 other renderings made for my swedish friends... A last point... for this one as that for the 2 previous one... these textures are not planed to be view very close of course... I must coninually think to the final weight of the scene, and during the animation... no close up... Thanks for you thoughts... always interesting to have this kind of objetive remarks. lemog
The exterior sheathing on that looks a little bizarre, what is it? Little woods tiles with round border... all painted in ochre-yellow with inside a little touch of green... ...it's not only my imagintation... it's the supposed result of my search... as I said... it was the most original pavilion in this Paris World's Fair... especially in 1900... The architect of this pavilion was F. Boberg... a Swedish guy... he was inspired by a previous pavilion, the one of the industry, made especially for the Stockholm's Fair in 1898... you can see that his one was very original... I can't imagine the material and the colors used ;-)
lemog
To start a visit in this Wold's Fair, exists a monumental gate which was also the symbol of this exhibition... of course, the design is a little bit special... not of course the most beautiful... but was the obliged start to enter in this Wolrd... This gate was named Porte Binet... Mr Binet was the architect. Coinjointly with the realization of the other Pavilions, I start it quietly... The original on the Concord Place in Paris :
