Storm
Hi, I've got a prob with my scene RPC's. In the trainging DVD, Global Illumination lighting techniques by Christopher Nichols (forgot to bring the DVD into work today), but I'm sure Chris mentioned that unless your using HDR or sommit then you should change the colour map vray settings to 'gamma correction' and 0.453 in the values. Prob is it's affecting my RPC's even though I've made them not to be affected by the GI, though I'm assuming the color mapping is nothing to do with the GI. Is there any way to exclude the rpc's from this colour correction ? as even on 100% brightness I'm getting dull looking rpc characters. BrianKitts
Colin, you didn't mention how the rest of the scene is, is everything else? I normally leave my RPC's self illumination brightness on 0% and let the GI light them, that way their lighting matches the scene. But ignoring that fact, you could select your rpcs - right click em and go to Vray properties and turn their recieve GI value to a number higher than one. But again I try to never self illuminate things to compensate cause its just unrealistic.
Storm
Thanks for the info Brian, to be honest the rest of my scene is looking a bit washed out too. I'll try your suggestion and see what happens. Cheers, Colin
Sawyer
Try using gamma correction & dark at 1; bright at .4545. Also you need to change the preferences (under customize, preferences, gamma lut) to enable gamma and affect material editor.
