DennisHolland
Hi all, this is a test to see if we're able to go on and start production with MR. The model is an unfinished cad-thing but it had cool shapes, as the original Operahouse is damn fine architectural design. Clean 3D render + 3D people, the mr-water turned out pretty cool. The rest is pure post process. Rendered (beta) at 2500 x 1800 px = 13 hrs sampling reached 17.6, cool enough for me Post is well over two hours so this could be a prod. Wilsonmetry
Fabulous!! The lighting absolutely matches the time of day in the sky. Love the con trails _______________________________________
Ricardo Eloy
Really, really cool, Dennis. So, you said it could very well be a prod, right? Did you experience any trouble setting the model to work with Maxwell or you took it as it was and worked on materials and light instead? How long you think it would take from scratch? siliconbauhaus
lovely image mate as always. I take it you've been busy as I haven't spoken to you in ages.
Devin Johnston
Dennis, this kind of finished image should really be posted in the finished works section unless you have a specific technical issue that you need help with. Having said that I must say very nice image, lighting is perfect and the glass although not transparent looks appropriate for the setting. Good job! Ernest Burden III
Dennis, this kind of finished image should really be posted in the finished works section unless you have a specific technical issue He's making a point about using MWR in production--a big question for most of us. It also is worth a larger audience because its such a fine picture, but that wasn't his point. Now--to that end--I think this image looks amazingly like a good old fashioned tempra rendering. A really great effort. The background looks too photographic for this effect, however. I would use some extra contrast and then desaturate some. The water is first-rate. How about testing the same scene in RC5 for us? Let's see how production-ready that little beasty is. Thanks for posting this.
DennisHolland
Thanks for all very warm comments guys... Pat: i'm sorry man, we really must level up soon. Thanks for the compliment. Talk to you later Rick; Well, there wasn't any problem from start. Not with inset faces or the other famous bugs this time. But that could be just luck Ernest: Thanks man! I also keep an eye on the rc-progress these days. But to tell you the truth, install a proper V1.0 is a better choice for all of us instead going through the annoyances of the buggy RC's. On the other hand, NL is going through some hard labor the last couple of months and some say the RC 5 is (almost) as good as the last Beta. Especially the lic. probs are keeping me from install and test, since I don't know if I'll be able to go back to beta if it doesn't work out. Thanks again all, regards. vodka79
Thats a nice render done! Did you export it to Studio?
DennisHolland
No Vodka, This one is done in the last Beta. As i've mentioned above, the RC is too unstable for me so let's wait for the v 1.0. In fact, i'm not sure if I ever will use the studio. I like plugins, dislike to export my work while in the 'flow'... Regards, Dennis

Hazdaz
Very impressive work right there (and the render times you mentioned are high, but not totaly out of line for the resolution and detail you have there). So out of curiosity, how much work was actually involved in actually lighting that scene then?? Everyone keeps on saying that setting up the lighting model with Maxwell is super easy and quick - well how much time do you think it took you? DennisHolland
HazDaz, it took only a short time to hit the right buttons in the environment rollout since I have one particular setting for a cool sunny day. Regards, Dennis
