Vray 1.5

I think it was in 3D World a little while back. There's been some chatter about it on Chaos' forum, but there's no real news on when 1.5 is being released. Vlado said a couple days ago they're down to hunting the tiniest bugs and cleaning up the code.

This is going to be a major release for Chaos, I'm pretty excited. And they have to deal with distributing the new dongles out within 30 days to all V-Ray users. I don't know how many people work for Chaos, but I get the feeling this is a lot of work for them.

That and 1.5 was originally going to be released in May of 2004 until they abandoned giving release dates. 20 months later...

Pretty sure that the dongles are coming form a seperate company, which has local offices in different locations. For example, I am pretty sure that there is one in the US, so when you order yours, I'm guessing you should be having it in a few days. Chaos will the have a huge amount of work authorizing everyone.

Chris.... on your dvd you were running a version of vray with a rendering time estimator that you said was comming out soon.... is that the release we're waiting on, or is there an option somewhere that I haven't checked.

yeah.. vlado gave me that version because of a minor photon mapping issue I was having and told me that by the time my DVD was out that version or later would be out. I guess they are pushing to release everything at this point. The time thing (albeit very simple) is really useful, you can tell right away if your render time is going to take too long. Beyond that, there are few differences between the version you have and that one.

Chris,

I have a question too about dvd Exterior Vray.

I tried to follow what you recorded and I tried to apply to what I wanted to do. I realize that same principles but I am having a problem with rendering a realistic house with glass that would not take so long to render.

Example with highway road is cool but what about traditional building with glass. Can you tell how to get a setup of light? Maybe you have tutorials or planning to do it. thanks.
