BrianKitts
keep in mind that a pdf can hold vector information. If your pdf was created by scanning paper, your out of luck, if it was created using plot to pdf in autocad, it still holds its vector info. Such that you can import the pdf into a program that supports vector info such as illustrator or freehand, and export a dwg file. That way you can import a dwg into your 3d program and if you're really lucky whoever drew the elevations closed their plines, and you can just extrude elements rather than redrawing all the objects. pipjor
Brian, just curious, why do you favor the freehand beizers over just redrawing in 3DS with the line tools?? Aren't they the same tool??
BrianKitts
I didn't mean to redraw in freehand. I mearly use freehand as a converter to get the pdf converted to a dwg (vector based) for max import as a vectored drawing. The freehand step takes a whole two seconds to open the pdf and then turn around and just export it as a dwg. That way when you are re-drawing the shapes that you have to redraw in your modeling program, you can turn on your snaps and actually snap to a vertex to help redraw as opposed to just tracing over a rasterized image.
