Sergio
Hi all, I do visualization for some time now. I was thinking how could make process quicker. What I usually do is inport cad drawing freeze and trace. Maybe it is not the best way, but in any case, during that I got some problems. For tracing i usualy use line tool. in that proces i usualy get some problems: 1. while using line tool, I miss intersection snap (from cad) in max. 2. during the redrawing, i zoom quite much, draw than zoom out to draw again. If i try to pan (with a middle button) line "jumps" out and stops, if you know what i meen, and then i got two options to start again, or make another line, attach, and weld. Is there a method for paning while drawing the lines in max. In cad that is quite "normal" you are drawing line, pan and than continuing with a next node... Best regards Sergio
archkre
To interactively Pan & Zoom in Max we have some keystrokes, which I don't remember now!([ and]for Pan or something like that!) Go to the list of keystrokes in your Max and you'll find them out!
Ricardo Eloy
Go to Customize -> Preferences -> Viewport and turn Zoom About Mouse Point on. That will make your mouse scroll work like a point zoom, ie, your zoom will focus the mouse pointer. Since scrolling does not interfere with the line command, you can zoom in and out, even emulating pan with just a sroll.
Sergio
Thanks archkre! Thanks Rick! I already did those changes in customise a long time ago, and zooming in and out, but is so slow. If I rotate wheel on mouse it zooms in and out no problem, but if I press and move whole mouse (in order to pan) just stopes the line command. I suppose you can not compare to the cad, where that function is working ideally. Any other ideas, please.
Ricardo Eloy
You find that slow? I don't know, once you get the grips with it it's just as fast as the real pan...
Sergio
Rick, I think you are right, I just want to impruve my overall speed and quality lately, and maybe you can not save much time by doing this. As they say, don't use the force, pick a bigger hammer, LOL.
