Camera Match

Really don't like doing camera matches. I have a Nikon d70 with a 18-70mm lens. Now I know the lenses for a digital camera don't correspond number wise to the numbers on a SLR. What numbers does max use when I give a camera an 18mm lens? Also from my first shoot (I have to re-shoot) there is a lot of distortion. I thought I could zoom out place the camera on a tripod and shoot away in a 360 arc but I am really getting distortion. What are tips for the shoot?

Thanks

Hi Sawyer,

That depends on the camera you got. Most of the time it is 1.5 or 1.6.

That is ratio between REAL lens and digital lens... only the VERY expensive ones have a 1 conversion rate.

Ask your reseller for that number: very handy to know

I am not really sure if this is right, my friend uses his landscape option to shoot 360. I also remember that his distance between shoot are minimal. I think you can also do that manually in photoshop. try to shoot around 24-36 shots at each point on a 360 angle. then match them in PS. overlap them to cover the distorted areas. good luck!
