JeeWee
Hi all there, I'm asking you the answer to my problem with making grass with vray displacement. It's a render with VRay 1.7 and max 7. The model is made in AutoCAD 2006 and imported with File link manager. Now when I render the scene the grass shows a hard line where one side shows a lighter shade of grass then on the other side. On the left side of the scene there is one and on the right side there are also two. Please help me because i finally made it through making real grass! http://www.xs4all.nl/~wijsman2/test01.jpg Jeroen

jow
try adding a subdivide modifier and setting the size to about 500ish,(depending on the scale you are using). failing that, do a poly edit and clean up the model that way so the triangles are of even size. hope this helps. quizzy
looks like a smoothing issue. Try and apply a smooth modifier to the grass object. And do not turn on automatic smooth.

quizzy
could you send me the autocad file with only the grass in it?? cause it really looks like a weld/smooth problem. Maybe the smooth doesn't work on linked geometry and you have to bine the mesh... just send it and i'll have a look at it..

quizzy
I am just to nice a guy.... try merging this max file in yours, hide your grass first. Apply the modifiers again and see what happens....

JeeWee
here's a solution, in autocad i don't extrude the object but leave it as a region, the only problem that sometimes occure is that there is a light at the edge of the grass. but that seems not to be the problem right now Jeroen
