d7man2000
light cache or qmc for secondary bounce? I can use only qmc for secondary bounce but I hear that light cache is preferred, I don't know what I lose?
anvaraziz
use lightcache dude, its faster ,,,,,,,,,,,
d7man2000
is that the only difference? the speed?
bricklyne
lightcache is more forgiving with processor usage and with geometry errors. qmc will give you a lot of splotches and harsh artifacts if you have even the slightest or smallest of errors with model geometry (coplanars, normals etc etc...) especially where glossy reflections/refractions are concerned; forcing you to have to go through every single element to find the cause of the splotches. And when you take into account the speed difference, it's just not worth it, using qmc over lightcache. Just my personal experience though....... d7man2000
I know what you are talking about, when you make a minor modeling error, qmc will detect and tell everyone in a sense, light cache doesn't care that much about it, it is better for animation
Fran
I like LC because it gives you very quick feedback regarding lighting and geometry.
jbrckovic
How do you people handle shadow contrast to get smooth skylight lighting of interior. When I reneder same scene with qmc in one render and LC in another render, I get different images. One with qmc gives me smooth shadow contrast when I lower secondary amount to 0.9, and with LC, there is very small difference batween highlight and shadow. How to get same results? STRAT
personally, i prefer the quality of QMC, but yes, LC is faster and more forgiving.
LordRaven
Not sure exactly why, but when I render the same scene with LC and QMC as secondary the LC comes out warmer, therefore I tend to like it better. Not to mention the fact is a lot faster.
STRAT
you cant just substitute BF and LC for each other; their multiply spinners need equalizing. thats way LC generally looks brighter/warmer by default.
LordRaven
you cant just substitute BF and LC for each other; their multiply spinners need equalizing. thats way LC generally looks brighter/warmer by default. I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the info!
