Hidden Polygons

Hello just wanting to know if it is worth it to remove any hidden polygons on a scene. I am importing certain elements in a scene which was created using autoCAD and the way in which it has been modeled uses a lot of shapes where only the front face is every seen and was wanting to know if there are any benefits to removing the hidden geometry. Wasnt sure if it would effect the speed of renders or the general use of the scene in Max.
