Hi there! Im trying to make real 3d grass for architectual visualization.

Until now i was doing it on a material in max then post in photoshop.

Then i tried a demo version of shag fur and had good effects but i was told that a displacement map could do the work, but i sont seem to doing it well.

Can any one point me a direction on making a real grass look?

Thanks

We (VisMasters) are just putting together the scope of the next Simian V-Ray Materials collection and it will include a Grass material that will be easy to use. We will also have Concrete, Water, Brick and Asphalt. There will be some cool features included with all. It could change, but the tentative release is mid April.

Jeff,

It is now the first of May...what is the status of the new V-Ray materials???

The developer, SIMIAN, has run into several issues with the latest materials due to their complexity. So far they have been delayed twice now. I wish I could give you a firm deadline for them to be finished, but I am waiting for the developer to get back to me. Hopefully I will know more next week.

My appologies for the dela on these, it was not something we anticipated either.

Just a bit curious as to what the additional features of the conrete material would be? Is it very similar to the ones which where shown for the wooden flooring in the first lot or will it include additional stuff such as the finish to the concrete such as holes from the formwork.

Also think it would be nice from what i ve seen that iif they had more presets ones which culd be used as from what i seen there seemed to be only 2 to 4 of each material. Dont think it would be that hard just to inlcude more presets.

Be nice to see what you s produce as the other ones appeared to be very usefull and simple to use.
