salf Posted February 24, 2006 Share Posted February 24, 2006 Just installed MAX 8 on my new machine, AMD 3200 64, GeForce 6800 GS 256 mb PCI-E As you can tell by the following im not much of a hardware or MAX guru: What video mode should I use: - SOftware -OpenGL -DIretc3d On my previous machine, my videoa was Nvidia also, but a regular gaming card, this one stills a gaming card just more powerfull, before i had worked always on SOFTWARE (wich is the default, i guess), but know i dont know what would suit me better. AJLynn Posted February 25, 2006 Share Posted February 25, 2006 Depending on what you're doing, Direct3D can be faster. Try doing some common operations, viewport orbiting, etc., in both and check the frame rates. Make sure you've got the most recent nVidia drivers and Direct3D version.
