cgraphics
i notice thru browsing at a lot of the images on the site most appear to be constructed using autocad, 3ds max and v-ray, is there anybody out there that uses eias (electric image) and how do you find the packages in comparison to those listed, as i havenot used 3ds, all of my architectural modelling is completed using archicad 9 ( as i am architectural designer), but like to venture more into the field of illustration, i have also been using eias for some time and it isnot at times that friendly your thoughts and comments are appreciated
IC
I don't have any experience of eias but I've read about its fast renderer for years and have been curious about trying it. I do like to have modelling and rendering closely linked however and I think that's the downside. Apparently it also handles huge scenes really well and that's a big plus for Architectural Illustration. Use whatever you feel comfortable with as long as you're happy with the results. tecton3d
I don't have personal experiece with EI, but have heard good things about it. I have always followed the work and admired the techniques of Morphosis (http://morphosis.net/morph.html) and have read that they use EI for some of thier final renderings while using Form-Z for modeling and preliminary rendering chores. After seeing the work of markus and his crew, it looks like the Morphosis stuff is also EI... and both firms' work looks pretty damn good : ) I wonder why EI has not caught on with the arch-viz community? . . . esp. since it it said to handles large files so easily and is a bargain considering licensing! cube101
I used to use eias with amapi and loved it! great renderer handles anything you throw at it and very quick. Main reason I changed to Max was that with architects tendancy to change designs last min it was a real pain having to delete all the bits that had changed then re import and retexture etc... that and the fact that Max is so widley used in arch vis and work so well with autocad. Do miss working on Macs though!
