d7man2000
when max looks for textures that don't exist anymore, it takes forever. can I disable this feature? so when I open a session/file, max doesn't look for textures?
raterry
Why not just delete the texture that links to the missing bitmap?

MrCAD
check this link http://www.aaaachoooo.com/page2_maxscripts.htm "Objects with Missing Textures: Such objects when present in a heavy scene with thousands of geometry make trouble shooting a tough task, especially if these objects are within nested groups and are hidden." I think the link is not active but you can mail shibu for the script and should send you. good luck, Meher http://www.mr-cad.com http://www.drapefx.com

theqball
load the file with your network cable unplugged and the go to the utility panel and open the Bitmap/Photometric Paths tool. "edit resources" and then "Strip All Paths", save the file, plug your network cable back in and now load... you can also do all of this in the new Asset Tracking tool in Max8. the new tool will give you a better interface, more exposure to hidden items, and more options for repathing.
