ERROR MESSAGE: Cannot create bitmap

When I try to render scenes with a resolution higher than 150 DPI with the default Max scanline renderer, I always get a message an error message that says " Cannot create bitmap". Am I doing somthing wrong or is this a Max bug?

In pixels, how large of an image are you trying to make? Depending on the amount of RAM you have, max will only allow you to create an image so large. My guess is that you are running out of physical memory.

 

The fix is to render you image in pieces and then assemble them after the fact in photoshop or something else.
