Who lives near a beach?

Preferably with surf. I am trying to find places in the world where the pleasures of working in 3D can be mixed with surfing, kitesurfing and general beach life.

Where I live presently, the work is good but its not close enough to a beach with surf - this kills me.

I practically live on the promenade of Portobello beach in Edinburgh.

Not really known for its surfing though. Or the kind of weather even the bravest of surfers would bear!

I love it though. You can't beat a bracing walk listening to crashing waves for clearing the head.

Thanks for your replies.

Iain, I was over on Dunbar beach kite surfing last Friday - it was baltic to say the least. The difference between the Glasgow side and Edinburgh is that Edinburgh gets waves although as you know, it can be super cold.

I grew up near the beach so, the city has its moments but doesn't have it all.

Time to move back !

Have fun

Hi Raymond

I have wanted to go to Hawaii for some years now - maybe some day !

Is there a market for 3D on Oahu ? Honolulu would be excellent for its location near the north shore but, I'm not into big crowds and it can get a bit hassely there from what I have seen.

Maybe Maui ?

have fun

well boy

You could always just get the bus down to Bray in wicklow, or tramore in waterford.

Personally kerry is my favourite I am sure you know it.

I was in italy and the windsurfing off the coast of tuscany is fantasic , short narrow beaches though.

I don't kitesurf, but play with 3m sligshot on the beaches.

Hi Philip

I haven't been to Bray but went to Tramore some years ago - big long beach and alot of good friends from there. Incidentially, I have just finished a job for a friend in Kerry.

Anyway, the west of Ireland is full of empty beaches, excellent surf and wind - maybe I should go there and set up a 3d artists retreat fully equipt with broadband, dual processors, projectors, video conferencing and water based toys for when the waves or wind get good !

Anyone interested ?

Actually, my favourite place in Ireland (apart from my home) is in Co Sligo - a wee village called Easky - fantastic little spot with much charm and more importantly, serious reef breaks aplenty.

adios
