JamesTaylor
is your planter floating? the dark shadow like area near its base suggests so?
IC
I know it's intentionally dark but I think it's too dark. It looks cold and uninviting rather than moody and comfortable. Easily fixed though.
manta
Hi guys thanx for the input, its not maxwell, i'm trying out vray PPT, Yes the planter is floating, must have missed that thanx, As far as the mood, I still have to add some elements like flowers and candles and up lighting, hopfully that will warm it up a bit... Ernest Burden III
See if you can make the lighting softer, diffuse. And pump up the exterior view. Night in a city is never that dark, there is color, shading, excitement.
Derek Youssi
Here are my crits: First, I would tweak the surface settings on the lampshades so the edges are not as bright as the part that is facing straight at the camera. If your software has an incidence angle setting for surface attributes, you could use that to get the desired effect. Right now they just look like flat white shapes. Second, there seems to be some odd reflection artifacts on the lamp posts, the picture on the wall (lower right corner of picture), and edges of the wood stands beside the couch. The magazine on the table seems huge and out of proportion. The pot on the plant seems reallly large as well for a house plant. And I agree with the others on the lighting and darkness of the image. I think the upward casting shadows create an eerie, uneasy feeling. Other than those crits, I think everything else looks nice. The rug, curtains, and couch look great. manta
Well here's an update, thanx for everyones input, still having a problem with my lamp shades, but I'll get it sooner or later...
jonosf
manta- The bottom half of the image is really nice, softer and warmer lighting, but the upper half of wall and ceiling still seems too brite, and the uplite at the corner plant seems to draw too much attention to itself. Flower scale seems a bit big to me too. But everything else is really nice. Am lovin' the soft lampshade material. (now if I could figure that out in maya/mr!) -jono
manta
Thanx for the comments jono... Here's the thing, thats how the lighting in my livingroom looks, should I change the lighting to make it look different, or keep it true to life... I think I'm gonna try a day shot also... Ismael
How about posting a photo of the scene for comparison. Of course everybody knows that a camera sees less than the average person..., but it will be a nice addition to this your study. Ismael
manta
Well I played around with the levels to kinda even out the lighting, and removed the ceiling from the pic...
jonosf
Manta - Yeah, that is looking really really nice! It feels like the focus is more on the whole room now and not just the ceiling. I'm of the mind that we can always 'improve' on reality just a bit! -jono
