edub
I have two plug-ins - "autosave" and "incsave" which will do that. Forgot where I got them from, but they were free. Do a search at c4d cafe, or somewhere with a plug-in downloads section.
STRAT
aye, you can definately save BAKS and incremental c4d files, but i think a plug is required for timed save. no doubt i'll be prooved wrong again though /me waits for Frosty to pipe up

Frosty
Sorry, I really dont know. Truth is the only app that I use that technique with is FormZ....simply because its so crash prone and corrupts files all the time. Cinema on the other hand I find to be very stable and I dont think has ever corrupted a file on me. Today will be the day no doubt.
DAN212222
ive just downloaded autosave... just wondering if you could talk me through it? ive loaded it up its now in my plugin list.... i set it up to render every 3 minutes just as a test, but it doesnt give you a place to save? does it just save the orginal file? or does it create a second file somewhere else? hmmm confused lol cheers dan
Ernest Burden III
mines a little crash happy with the system im running it on at the moment... That's no good! Rather unusual, too. What do you suspect? I have been, most of the time, beta testing a CAD program since the bad old days. I developed a habit that I have never regretted, of hitting the save button whenever I completed a task that I didn't want to repeat. You know, when you were brilliant for five minutes and did an hour's work? Hit ^S while you ponder your next move. In other words, I do a save as a final step of any mini-block of work. With projects I not only save obsessively, I save, then save under a numbered name (school01, school02, school03). You can easily delete the list later, but you not only have a backup, you have several versions of a backup. Hard drives are cheap.
DAN212222
Not sure it was fine.. then had a system crash on my system, had to completly reinstall and since then its been a bit tempamental. if i move a lot of stuff round it simple stop and dies... looking to invest in a new computer soon... dan

OK, you aren't talking about Cinema crashing. That is rare. When you say 'moving stuff' I'm thinking you mean files, and that takes hard drive activity. Perhaps your drive has developed a fault. Try running the media checking on your boot volume, go for the most thourough verison. See if that turns up bad tracks. A bad track in the OS's reserved area is usually fatal for that drive. Frosty
nah i mean c4d.... crashing.. when i pan around etc it simply pauses and dies.... lol That sounds like video drivers. Search past threads for solutions as both Ernest and I have struggled with this. Rule of thumb with 3D apps is once you geta working driver.... dont mess with it. I also create directories for each days work and follow the numbering practice.
