fernando-1
any suggestions for graphic cards in the $500 to $1200 range for 3dmax/vray use, thanks
Brian Cassil
I'd stick with nvidia for use with max. The maxtreme driver isn't as big of an advantage as it used to be but still worth it. For just over 1000 you can get what I've got on order now, the quadro 3450.
fernando-1
should i get the pci or agp version...whats the difference?
theqball
PCI is slower than AGP, but if you MB is new then check to see if it has a PCI Express slot as that is the fastest of them all. Nvidia's Quadro cards are rock solid IMHO and is what we use mostly at M&E.
Dollhouse Studio
I just love my Quadro FX 3400 it works great in Max/Viz.... A little lag in Revit though...
Hazdaz
Save yourself the dough and get a $300 high-end Nvidia consumer card. Quadros (and all "pro" cards) aren't worth it anymore. Previous versions of MAX (with their god awful viewport speed) were sped up quite a bit with a Quadro. But while MAX 8's viewport speed is still slow, MAXtreme doesn't speed it up enough to make it worth it.
qwerty
Am currently using Fx 3540, and I think it's ace. But as for settings, anyone to recommend using software, or opengl or direct3d?
