STRAT
Hi peeps, another fun OT thread on regarding your drawing/working habits and vices. So how do you do it? what's a must for you? what makes you more productive? Personally, i work in a communal office, so i got my headphones on all day (Floyd obviously, as they've officially been established as the best), i drink 7-8 mugs of filter coffee, and sneak out for several ciggys too. At home it's stereo full on, ciggy smoke everywhere, and a coffee machine in my office. i dont eat much when working, so atleast food isnt distracting me. and i certainly cant sup on a bottle of beer at home. alcohol really turns me off work. how do you work then fellers and lasses? Da_RoCk
COFFEE!!! thick black coffee!!! thats just to make me awake tho... to be more productive: i guess someone should cut my internet connection cause sometimes i just tend to surf even after rendering a test image... LOL Itunes/Ipod for my case also works well (if there is no inet connection)... playing my collection all day... Just waiting for me to get tired of it tho and have another collection LOL... Southpark repeats... i am ninja... ill be playing it from the background while modelling most of the times... Go to the reception area and snatch some sweets thats intended for the clients... foxes, chocolates... wah!!! and at night; no general lighting please!!! just a lampshade with cool white flourecent helps me focus. DennisHolland
Put all of the above in a pot, stir it CCW for 5 minutes and that's it..... For real: 2 mugs of filtercoffee (milk, no sugar) and 6/8 Marlboro menthol siggies from 7 to 9 in the morning to get me on track. I'm a CocaCola light addict so 8 ltrs further and the clock says 18:00 hrs. Then hop in my Frontera to get a day-menu down the road, and Bonzo for my un-loyal bastard Senna (yep, a dog). No alcohol! Went into a schizo-psychose 3 yrs ago (4 mnths psych. hospital) so that would be a bit un-wise Dennis
Brian Cassil
For me, the trick is getting GOOD sleep at night. It doen't have to be a ton, 6 hrs or so will do, but it has to be solid. Also, I used to go to the gym everyday at lunch and that helped me out a lot in the afternoon. I should start doing that again.
Sawyer
I suffer from wicked depression so I have found I need to head to the gym for 1 hour every morn. That keeps me less down and makes me feel I have a bit of controll. Lots of coffee quit the cigs about 4 years ago the baby had grabbed a pack and it looked like she ate a few of them. I freaked out & thought thats the kind of stuff a bad father lets happen. She was fine didn't get sick must not have really eaten any. They put me on the pill (wellbutrin) and it gave me almost every side effect you could get but I didn't want to smoke. Love heading over to the Onion every once and a while, read the funnies on line. Listen to whatever I want to musically.
Crazy Homeless Guy
3-4 coffee, tea in afternoon, a couple of drinks in the evening. ...what vices? i didn't realize these were just work vices. i probably should have dropped the alchohol, it doesn't make me productive. others for me... iPod (podcasts and music), streaming (WFMU, KEXP, KCRW), internet (cgarchitect), gym (nothing like a good workoout to boost energy), and the interiors department. e-YELLOWCABS.COM
OKfor the coffee, OK for the floyds; no cigs, i stopped new year 2K. But , the best, and it's for that reason that i like working alone: listening a song , always the same over the night. It puts you i don't know where but, you are a real production machine! Test it ! Brian Cassil
I suffer from wicked depression Must be all that Pink Floyd you listen too... At least that's what my parents tried to pin it on when I was a teenager.
AJLynn
Holy crap, am I the least unhealthy person here? 2 coffees (black) in the morning and real food for lunch and dinner, junk snacks kept to a minimum except for an occasional afternoon cookie. Though I do have the tendency to stay in studio way too late (4am last night, working on a model - I finally have laser cutter access! - will post pics when done) then sleep in and waste time on the net like I'm doing now. Fernando Lino
I don't dirink too many cups of cofee during the day...maybe 1 or 2....but when I have a deadline I usually take my "dosis" of Redbull and a little bit of music
gfa2
...and the interiors department. that is funny...right there with ya on that one. I don't drink coffee or smoke, but I do exercise and eat cereal for lunch...while I work. Alcohol does seem to kill your productivity but it's interesting to see what you can come up with when you have had a few too many to drink. Music is a must...all of us in the office have our music folders shared so everyone has a TON of music to choose from.
Brian Cassil
that is funny...right there with ya on that one. We got a couple old ladies, and a middle aged round fella. None are really my type.
BrianKitts
technically I would throw alcohol into the list as a vice. Although we aren't consuming it at work, how many times has a days productivity been greatly reduced due to previous nights activities.. ... or better yet how often do you hear this line "Hey you going to happy hour??, its 4:00 and everyone's already left for cocktails...." = there went the rest of the days productivity! --> if you don't suffer from this one you need a new boss and coworkers
Fran
Wow. I am so boring. I thought working barefoot might count as a vice. If I have a vice, it's rumaging through the forums whenever something's cooking on the computer.

Though I do have the tendency to stay in studio way too late (4am last night, working on a model HA! Got ya beat! I'm down to 1-2 cups a day. I'm all water now I sure cant say that about my School Daze though. Anywhere from 3-12 cups plus some Sobes supplimented by bagels. I can totally relate to the 4am thing. I used to sleep there 3-4 nights a week. My only vice is iTunes... hooked to the music server.

Jeff Mottle
Iced Tea (the sugar kind) I drink about 2-3 litres a day. That is probably about 4 tbsp of amost pure sugar every day. Hmmmm, I think this could lead to becoming diabetic... I bought a kick ass gym for my basement before Xmas, as I don't have time to leave my house anymore. Did I mention I work too much...is that a vice? Usually around 14-16 hours a day.
