ecastillor
I would doubt the problem is the sketch up model, but rather your vray settings...could you post them?
kyeric
Not to hijack, but I just want to know if anyone else is doing thei rmodelling in SketchUp and bringing it in to max for vraying... If so, what is the best solution for window glass? I think my models have the panes built as a single plane and I have heard from different sources that planes will not reflect the environment. Does anyone have a good process of this conversion? thanks, e
AJLynn
I do that all the time. Model both sides of the window glass, with the gray facing out and purple facing in. For the material, use your favorite glass.

siliconbauhaus
I model in SU all the time and then go with max and vray or maxwell. Model everything on layer 0 and group your items. Then create your layers that you want the items to be on and then change the layers of the grouped elements to those layers. Export the file as a dwg with faces only and then bring into max. Works everytime for me and I do it day in and day out.
jophus14
What do you do if you are using someone elses model from SU but aren't sure if it was modeled correctly (tan faces out)? Any other tips for rendering using a SU model? Do you use the same settings in Vray as you would if you modeled it using Max/Viz?
bjornkn
You go to the View/Rendering/Monochrome menu. Then you can see the model without any materials, and then it's easy to see where the faces point.
