JamesTaylor
I'm just wondering with all the developments under way in Dubai, most of which it seems are being sold via the use of 3d visuals, who's doing all the work? is the work carried out by companies in Dubai? i know a lot of the architects involved in these projects are ultimately based outside Dubai, does this mean that the images and animations are also being completed by companies outside of dubai? i've just had a quick search on google for arch vis in dubai but found nothing and equally the visualisation firm lookup resource here doesn't list dubai or the UAE as a means of searching the listed firms. what is the state of the industry in Dubai? can anyone list some firms operating there or equally any of the firms undertaking work on these developments? Arnold Sher
As far as we know most of the work gets outsourced to various companies around the world. Last year we did about 40% of our turnover for Dubai, UAE and Bahrain. It seems as though most of the work comes to us via the architectural or development companies that we work with who have undartaken work over there and they prefer to work with somebody that they know. As far as what the industry is like there i could not tell as we do all the work from South Africa. Hope that helps...
Devin Johnston
My firm does some work for Dubai, mostly oil companies looking to set up shop there. I’ve done several animations and renderings for different projects that have come up over the years.
JamesTaylor
Thanks Arnold, from looking around i was getting the impression that a lot of the work would be shipped outside of Dubai, by the fact i struggled to find any viz firms in Dubai! (there must be some?) I guess like you say 3d work initially comes from the architects using it as a means of communication and then stays with the 3d firm through to marketing material. pirallah
We have done our share of acrhitectural visualization, though most of the work here in Dubai focuses on marketing finished architectural and interior products. I know some people inside the bigger local archi firms, and they claim that most of the design is done somewhere else...US, Hongkong, Philippines, UK, etc. A foreign design has better "branding value", its more "marketable" (so they say)... There are local architectural firms, but here architecture is not a recognized profession (like engineering)...it's a "consultancy"..like advertising. Its depressing to think that the biggest construction site in the world today doesn't pay proper respects to the professionals that design these things...but oh well, they pay well, i guess that's enough to compensate us for now. Im pissed, but I cant complain. What a predicament.

Aftabtaseer
That's a great observation, and you're absolutely right—Dubai has become a hotspot for large-scale real estate development, and 3D architectural visualizations are a huge part of marketing these projects. While many of the architectural concepts originate from international firms (especially from the UK, Europe, and the US), there's actually a growing visualization industry within Dubai and the broader UAE that caters specifically to these developments. That said, it’s still quite common for visualization work—particularly high-end cinematic animations and detailed CGIs—to be outsourced to studios abroad, especially in Eastern Europe and Asia, where there’s a deep talent pool and competitive pricing. That might be why you didn’t come across many results on Google or in visualization directories—it’s a bit under-the-radar unless you’re in the industry or connected to local developers and studios. However, there are several reputable firms operating in Dubai and the UAE that specialize in architectural visualization, and many of them are either: Local branches of international visualization companies, Independent studios started by expats or regionally-based talent, or In-house visualization teams embedded within major architecture or development firms. Some notable companies or studios to check out: Enzo Milano Interiors (Dubai) – They’ve worked on high-end residential and commercial projects and are quite active in the local scene. 3D Power Visualization Pvt. Ltd. – While headquartered in India, they frequently collaborate with developers in Dubai. VRender (UAE) – Known for photorealistic rendering and real estate marketing visuals. In-house teams – Many of the big developers in Dubai, such as Emaar, Damac, Nakheel, and Meraas, have internal or contracted teams dedicated to producing visuals, often in collaboration with external vendors. Additionally, international visualization giants like DBOX, Hayes Davidson, and MIR have worked on Dubai-based projects, though they often collaborate remotely or through a Dubai-based liaison. So while the architecture might come from firms abroad, there's definitely a local ecosystem that handles a lot of the visualization work, especially for mid to large-scale developments. That said, the outsourcing model is still prevalent due to cost efficiency and bandwidth for large-scale imagery and animations. Hope that sheds some light!
