mzex
How to set up network rendering? I have 3ds 7 and V-ray 1.47. What else is needed?
Tim Saunders
There are a few options. Backburner works just as before you were using vray. If you are wanting to use Vray's distributed rendering feature follow these instructions http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/VRayHelp150beta/distributed_rendering.htm and these installation notes for DR http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/VRayHelp150beta/distributed_rendering.htm Don't forget to create the .ini file. ihabkal
I prefer to use slice option in backburner and render Brazil and Vray images in slices, it seems to work fine and spread things nice excpt if you have on very slow computer that gets the last slice then it all goes to waste. did you have any bad experience with thar? like bad GI calculation? frazer
Sry to ask a question in your post but think its on similar lines. Have just started trying to set up network rendering myself, trying little tests. Recently started doing a test render of a quite simple image with lots of reflection and using GI with Vray. I split the image up using the slice option in backburner in order to create the size of the image file (12k x 6k pixels just testing to see what I could do if i needed). When piecing together the images it all seems to have worked fine but was just wanting to know if it is a good idea to render the GI seperate in each slice or can this produce problems when putting the overall image together. Would it have been better to work out the GI for the overall image then render each slice using that file. Found a nice video tutorial on the 3d buzz web site about network rendering using backburner (using max 4 but very similar process). Its under the 3ds max vtms issue 2 and the last one in this section.
