calebabudu
Hello revit users. I understand that building maker in revit 7 and 8/8.1 have the ability to convert NURBS surfaces to revit objects (i.e. curtain walls, roofs, walls etc) as is shown from an article I got on an AEC website. Now I generated this particular surface in Autodesk 3dsmax using a plane, with FFD box to deform it and then adding a mesh smooth. After taking it to revit the results I had trying to turn the surface to a curtain wall were undesirable. I later tried using a NURBS CV surface generator and then deforming it, I still got the same results. Is there any special way of getting the same results as in fig 1? I am open to any suggestions. jamesB
It may sounds strainge but Revit for some reason can't import its own family products (in this case 3ds max or viz). Those images that you showed where made in Rhino. Rhino is going to give you the best results. Revit 9 will aslo have the ability to import native sketchup files and Formz, but no viz or max. For more quistions about revit, check out the forum on http://www.augi.com.
joseph alexander
3Dstudio--> Export your nurb surface as an IGES. Revit--> Create a new mass. Call it nurb. Import the IGES while you are creating the mass. Select it and apply curtain system by face. It will create a curtain system using the geometry. erase the geometry and modify your curtain system as needed. Then export it as a .dwg. and import it in viz to render. -Joe
