bricklyne
Step out for a bit and everything falls to pieces. I dropped by the forums today, and it's like mayhem there. People getting banned and deleted for even sneezing the wrong way; fanboys in SERIOUS bouts of denial, and Mods on what can only be described as power-trips on steroids Yeeeesh!!!! Don't these guys realize just how much harm they're doing to their company? Passers-by who drop by and observe the mayhem can't possibly be any bit tempted to even consider purchasing the product. Today I saw someone (Julian) go from making an innocent post about Maxwell and ebay to being turned into the bad-guy and essentially threatened with banning in the space of a couple of posts and a few hours. Tom is of course a lost cause, but Darth Mike, went from an unaffiliated but helpful beta-testa and presence, to now being a borderline jerk. I mean he's still seems like he wants to be helpful but most of that is then diluted by the perpetual and alternate threats and Tom-like obstinacy (I believe his current line of reasoning is something along the lines of : "yes, NL has treated you people rudely and badly, but that's no excuse to voice that opinion - two wrongs don't make a right - just bend over and take it and zip it while you're at it") . It's almost like your IQ drops by half or two-thirds when you're appointed a Mod at those forums. Mindboggling. He'll be greatly missed. The question I have is whether anyone here had any experience with the development of Realflow or Realwave? I just find it hard to believe that a company would wilfully flush their reputation down a toilet the way NL is currently doing. At this rate, regardless of how fantastic a product Maxwell eventually turns out to be, they may never recover the goodwill and word-of-mouth that they really had at the beginning when they were always willing to listen to customer comments. Some people value good customer support and service over a marginally better product. Chaosgroup et al, must be loving this though........

AdamT
It has become quite the sickening love-fest over there now that they've sh*tcanned everyone who disagrees with them--or committed eviction by nausea on the rest of us. Hugs and kisses from Tom, MVerta dispensing praise for playing nice. I guess they'll figure out soon enough that SOILENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!!
Ernest Burden III
I guess they'll figure out soon enough that SOILENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!! Ah, but always too late. They'll be there in a comfy chair staring all the pretty chromatic aberations and perfectly diffused light...
bricklyne
You sure picked up a lot for a short visit. It's actually all from the last couple of days. I stopped visiting there a while back after they released RC5, partly because of all the apathy frm NL, and partly also because of work getting in the way, but dropping by there again seemed like I was away for a year. I stopped caring as much when they stopped developing the plugins ( the ArchiCAD plugin has been mostly unusable frm the start of the process) seeing as I have no interest in learning a new interface that wouldn't even let you undo actions. I guess you could say that I've been habouring some residual hope that things will get better ( and maybe they will); but at this point, who knows........ Trick
Well, at least they announced a release...... a release of an anouncement...... announcements are the real hype now ......
_PopArt
NL board is soooo funny. One of the mods is having his usual nervous breakdown, and darth vader goes everywhere saying he is following the emperors orders and must destroy poster who mutiny, talking about his lightsaber always. One of the most bizarre forums in cg history. They are right, they make history!
Noise
I have been picking up strange information from the various forums about Maxwell. As I am a VRay user, I have no reason to go to their forum or look out for Maxwell info. So, what has happened ? I can get from this thread that some of their moderators have gone a bit Michael Jackson but, on visiting their forum, these guys seem to have disappaered - no doubt because of their behaviour ? n
Noise
Ok, I have had a better read and it does sound a bit uninspiring and a shame. When M~R first came out I thought that it had so much potential but decided to wait until it had developed somewhat further. This was becasue I had jumped on the VRay bandwagon at an early stage and realised that software in the early stages of development was not such a good idea to use for fee paying work. Although, VRay has come along way and the support team and forum are excellent. Lucky I missed out on M~R. n

From what I understand the Maxwell department is separate from Realflow, I'm not sure if they have any people that created Realflow working on Maxwell but the management is different. In the end it really doesn’t matter if there separate or together they still work for Next Limit and should be managed in the same way. Victor is the one that started this, months ago right as they began to cut communication Victor came onto the forums and declared that he was done with them, the he wouldn’t be posting any longer. I think this was supposable done because of all the complaining he was getting from people, and he was tired of it. In reality this was the point they started developing Studio and working on the new engine. From that point the forum began collapsing in on its self and now there isn't much left to do except name call and fight.
