sob80sup81
Hi... It seems a bit embarrasing to ask about a low end computer specification here since many of you use incredible machines... I try to build a new computer with this main specification below... Ge Force FX 6600 GT 128mb 128bit MVM DDR 1GB PC 3200 Asus Mobo K8SLI XP Athlon 3200 Venice Would this spec good enough? I mean for a long period since i'm looking forward for the price of dual core processor start falling... Thanks before
Brian Cassil
Good enough? Hard to say. It would depend a lot on the types of scenes you are rendering and how much patience you have. Also, the dual core procs have already dropped in price quite a bit.
AJLynn
Almost any dual-core will almost double render speed with most renderers, so go for it if you can. Keep a RAM slot free in case you want to upgrade later.
sob80sup81
Thanks all for the responses... Well, i did some googling before and i realized that actually dual core isn't so expensive at all... AMD Opteron 265 is around US$ 340 am i right? Hmmm... actually, considering the average render time i've been experiencing using vray these days i believe that i'm patient enough... but unfortunately my clients are not so patient I'm currently using an AMD Athlon XP 2800+, Asus Nforce chip Mobo n a GeForce 5600 LE 128 MB... kinda lame isn't it? Now i change my spec... Ge Force FX 6600 GT 128mb 128bit MVM DDR 1GB PC 3200 Asus Mobo K8SLI XP Opteron 265 How much time saving percentage can you guess by this upgrade? Brian Cassil
If you're just going to do one chip, no need for the 200 series. You might want to check out the x2 series.
