Matt Sugden
Hi, I have almost finished this exterior for a client, however I feel like I've really struggled this time with the building, the materials in particular, to get a good level of realism. It's terracotta cladded which by nature is dull, linear and flat in appearance. In most cases I'm self critical enough to tell what the image is lacking to correct it which is half the battle, but in this case I feel a bit stuck and would really appreciate some constructive critism and hints to make it shine. Thanks in advance. Matt
alias_marks
Not too bad, I would tone down the blue a bit. I think you have good muted colors that are overpowered by the blue tiling at the bottom. If you toned the blue down a little and diversify the tones a little more like you did with the terracotta, I think you'd be on the right track. I have a lot of problems with getting too primary sometimes to try and make the image pop when all I really have to do is tone them down a bit. I might try and clean up the tiling effect on the sidewalk too. Good Luck and nice work, Mike
