Your dream job?

Hey guys,

Most of us are in this industry because we're artists and like what we do...but what would be your absoulte dream jon (cg or otherwise).

I would LOVE to work solo for say...the Discovery/Nat Geo/History channel doing 3d recreations of old sites like egyptian temples for their specials. That would be AMAZINGLY fun to do...animated recreations of old sites and ruins.

How would someone even go about something like that? Anyone know? Because sometimes I see the CG recreations and just feel me, MicroStation, and Vue 5 Infinite could do an equal or better job than some of it.

What is your dream job?

Dream job?

I would like to be hired to produce worlds and environments using organic architectural forms. One easy to imagine application would be to design sets/locations for a SciFi film set on an alien planet.

I hope to do more of that sort of thing on my own (I've done this on paper but have not built one of my pictures in 3D yet), but that isn't a 'job' which was the question.

My dream job is a commision to do a rendering of anything that has been well planned...and every decision making entity involved with the project has made their final decisions...in stone...all materials are decided...all aspects of the desired rendering have been agreed upon...one set of correct...CORRECT...cad files...one "go to" guy...one invoice issue...

..I think I just piddled a little bit...

My dream job?

My dream job would be to not have to have a job-

I would rather play at home all day, being a full-time Momma to my sons, making home-made meals, and tending to an amazing garden growing abundantly in my backyard. Then inviting friends and family over for bbq and cocktails;), and singing  with my music making friends infront of the fire pit:)...

Yes, Ernest... I do have to work... for income...

But I am devoted to prioritizing what I value and having that be what fills my life-

That is one of the main reasons that I moved from L.A. (or Hell A) to the wine country in Central California- Paso Robles. If you ever get to this area... we can break bread, enjoy some vino and break into song... (my family has an award winning winery here- so I will buy).

And so I hijack yet another thread...oh, well.

I was there for a few days last summer, stayed at a guesthouse at an organic farm. Fun! Which winery is yours? We only went to a few around there (Wild Horse, Justin and (the best) Tablas Creek). I would go back any day. Oh, and my sister has a house on the ocean in Cambria. So I have reason to go back...besides that I cannot live without coastal California.

I'm sorry, what were we talking about?

Well Jennifer seems you may have really caught something good. For me I have more fantasies about where I would work more so than what I would do. My dream job would more involve moving to Greece or Belize than changing professions.

Mmmmm....

Oh Ernest- We sold Justin his property... 180 of our 360 acres (we are literally next door neighbors). And infact, Justin inspired our family to embark onto the vineyard and winemaking path...

Now that I know that you are a regular to this area... I hope that you will find time to share with a fellow cg'er.

So to bring it back around to the topic of this post... "dream job"... even the winery business has its pros and cons! It is a choice to love what you do and do what you love.

You know NY gets into you more than anywhere else. I miss NY so much but I just never hacked living there. I WANT to be the kind of person who can live in the city. I really miss the city and if I ever was offered a job in the city I would really think about moving. Yet when I lived there I really missed green. Moved away and I miss the action. No where has the action of NY.

Other place I would really be happy doing stuff: Spain.
