AdamT
This was a pretty sick maneuver by the mods at the NL forums: http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13003 They didn't like the way the thread was going, so Mike hijacks it ("anyone seen any good movies?") and a few posts later Tominator locks it because it's gone off topic. I pointed this out in another thread, but it was deleted in less than five minutes. A perfectly executed pick and roll, followed by a technical foul and ejection. Adehus
You had to love this exchange, though- Darth Verta- 'Seen any good movies lately?' Westcad- 'The Neverending Story.' Yep, just when you thought it couldn't get any more bizarre, the absurdity deepens. Somebody needs to get themselves banned over there to redirect the flow of conversation Or at least to initate some chatter of some kind, anyhow- the forum is dead. Ernest Burden III
the forum is dead. It's the un-dead walking the earth. I remember last december posting about how I had had enough and getting attacked for the negativity. I asked "OK, how long will you wait--a month, three months, six?" Just about everybody has their breaking point and will give up or get testy. A few will continue to post praise no matter what happens, but they look sillier every day. I do not fault the faithful, by the way. They are not making the situation and they have a right to hope if they want it. But the focus now being on Orwellian double-speak logic is just nuts. Imagine you are starving and someone comes before you and says 'there is food, I have eaten it, and man is it good. You're going to love it. Let me tell you some of what's coming out of that kitchen'. Great! Let's eat! No? Well when? Why can't I know when, I'm starving, I might die. And while its not a big point since I'm too hungry to think straight, I paid for the meal last year. Your next move is--praise, thanks for the news? I guess it is your best move since any other comment will just get you thrown out of the messhall.
jona loewe
in my opinion, the forum has really lost its skilled members. most people, who made the impressive pictures, which convinced me of buying my licence have left, or sunk into silence... there is nor more real reason to stay in/read the forum anymore. most technical discussion does not make any sense at this time, because no one knows, what will work in the next RC/v1.0 and which features will have been changed , so that one has to relearn them again. Very often I don't know for sure, wheter it is me, doing something wrong, or wether it is a disabled/none working feature (emitters for example). i don't know, why they are not willing to give some clear statement about the neccessary features like clipmaps/sunlight/displacement...sooner or later, they will have to.... jonathan

Ernest Burden III
There was so much more to talk about back then. The users are no longer trusted to know anything about what they have bought. So what's to talk about?
Fran
I'm tired of talk. I want to do. I am doing with Vray right now (as we speak). Just out of nostalgia, I make it go really slow and rather noisy.

Devin Johnston
I think NL should simply close the forum until they release V1.0 or another RC. There’s simply no reason for it to exist any longer and in the absence of anything real to talk about were all just fighting because were so frustrated at trying to understand the situation. Please tell me if I'm wrong but has any company in the history of software screwed up as bad as NL and survived?

(probably not seeing as they already settled out of court.........and, of course, because everybody now know's NL's MO now thanks to the the whole Maxwell debacle)
Sawyer
WOW! That is an expose! Wonder if you posted that link at the Maxwell forum how fast it would be torn down. I am not really in on the whole drama (I have read about it hear) so who is the marketing wiz this guy is blasting? edit: Ok we must have all posted at once. bricklyne
The mods are obviously asleep,....or maybe the fanboys just haven't yet alerted them to it yet. Whatever the reason, this is just plain deplorable and far below what we've come to expect of NL forum itchy-finger Mods' usually trigger-happy standards. Someone ought to be flogged for this (the fact that it has lasted this long with quite a number of replies); that's just plain sloppy. You should have at least got the red-letter wagging finger of admonishment, by now.........
Ernest Burden III
So does this raise the liklihood that I was right when I wondered if they bought Jackie3D as the base for Maxwell? That's how they started RealFlow, if you believe that article. And I would think it a problem for nextLimit to ban a customer who bought 120 licences. Just a guess. Remember--tomorrow we should expect an important announcement on canceling pre-orders. I'll be all over it.
