notamondayfan
is there any way to get objects (planes) to face the current camera? i have several camera, in a scene. i also have loads of planes with people and trees mapped onto them. currently im using the "look at" animation constraint, and using a camera as the object to look at. the only problem is when i want to change camera, i have to change the object which the planes look at. so is there an automatic way of making them look at the current camera? thanks, dean
JamesTaylor
i'd have thought some one should be able to point you in the direction of an appropiate script but one method would be to just use one camera and animated its position over a number a frames to the different views you require, that way the look at constraint will be in use constantly. notamondayfan
i looked for a script off scriptspot but couldnt find 1. im gonna try animating a dummy box, and making all my objs face that, then correspond the camera angle to each frame. but a script would b ideal if ne 1 has 1? ajvbochove
Studio Max has a tutorial about this subject. Just type billboard in the tutorial-help, and maybe viz has the same. Good luck.
notamondayfan
cant figure out that billboard thing. jus acts as a dummy object, and doesnt affect anything when i change cam. and when i tried using my dummy object animated around the scene, my planes rotated too (along x axis) , depending on where the dummy box was, so i had to go bk into the settings and alter their orientation, which kinda defeates the objective of animating the dummy! im soooo p****d off!!!!!! Trevor Tizard
Hi, There is a free plugin here: http://www.habware.at/duck6.htm called "Billboard" that may help. Not tried it myself, just stumbled accross it.
