Carrotious
Could anyone help me. nearing deadline and need to get these shelves to glow gently and am having problems... at the moment i am using a vraywrapper with a self illuminated material with fall off but i'm having trouble controlling it. As you see it goes white when i need it to remain slightly pink and trasparent... Thanks all Giles ps i included a photo i took with back lit perspex which is something that if i could reproduce and turn down would be perfect. Looks like i'll be working on this all night so if anyone wants to get into this with me i would be most greatfull
DennisHolland
Maybe a vray lightmap Giles, wrap a glassy mat around it and set color to pink. I think your self-illuminating material is not working out. Usually this mat illuminate the applied object and not the area around it. Good luck, Dennis

JamesTaylor
how about photoshopping it, Duplicate layer, Gussion blur it and then apply as a screen layer, should give a kinda of glow effect with a little playing. Maybe mask of parts which shouldn't glow

creasia
If you are using Vray 1.47 it has a light map material. Otherwise you can vary the light levels by adding a diffuse bitmap made of the pink color you want, and increase the rgb level under the bitmap output tab. This achieves a higher than 100% boost on your lighting. I have also experimented with cranking up the Generate GI level on the object's Vray properties. Hope this helps... DennisHolland
Hi Giles, it's just a vray material, listed in your materialbrowser. The settings are quite simple. That's all there is to it. Vray 1.4xx all builds have the material. Good luck, your model is pretty cool. Dennis
creasia
Hey Giles, I have uploaded some files here for you to demonstrate how to get that glow working. I have everything I used to create the file in the attached zip. For some reason I can't import the 3ds file without errors so you can try the importing the .mat file. The max and Mat file were created with Max 8. It has been created with standard max materials and should work in Vray 1.47 and also 1.09. Enjoy!
