displacement grass, and bushes

morning fellas,

 

i was curious to how people create displacement grass in c4d, i had a little play round with it never really got far, ive also seen some nice examples of bushes been made from displacement mapping,

 

anyone know of any tutorials, or any settings they use which have been successful...

There's also a new module called Hair that does that job very well, or so it appears. I haven't bought it yet. If I did, I would have to have time to learn it, which is the problem.

 

Displacement or SPD is great. The idea is to use noise and take the time to experiment. You put a noise into the SPD channeland best to set the mode to intensity, not centered intensity, and test render, play, test render... Try different noises, diffferent scales.

Sorry for the delay gents...... crunchiest of crunch times, just ended ;)

 

The file is severely stripped down, but all the goodies are there. Take a look at the grass and hedge materials-use of fusion and layer shaders, even has the map for the hedges, shrunk and super compressed :(

 

The grass and hedges are just on the edge of 'good enough' for the animation that this file was stripped from.
