Is someone using your renderings to start his business?

Friends, I found this in a magazine ad that was freely distributed Sunday in Lebanon in the order of engineers and architects during an election day.

Right away I noticed that 3 or 4 of the mini renderings were done by some of you. I recognised an inteiror by Chen Qingfeng (sorry if I misspelled your name). Does any of you recognise his work? a couple of models were done by an italian artsit for a competition also.

If you recognise your work, post here, and sent the guy an e-mail asking him to stop using your renderings. His e-mail is lv3d@hotmail.com

The one you labelled Chen is from the second page of the gallery for fR-0 on cebas.com (without attribution - but it sure looks like Chen).

there was a guy who took my samples to get some work for me and after we negotiated for prices ... i decided he was too cheap to work with but he still sent the flyers out with my works in them .... sigh

I hate when people do that. I just checked our databases and he is not in any of them. (At least not the email listed)

Also the 1st image on the second row looks just like a render from a tutorial on the evermotion.org website.

Of course the tutorial offers the scene file for you to play with..err pass off as your own work. What a loser.

That's the Sibenik cathedral (there's also a shot in there inside the nave) - it's a model file you can get on somebody's web site to work on your GI technique. I figure 90% of the people here have a version of it. I have one I can slot in at the end of my hardcopy portfolio but if I use it I say what it is, and I only use it when I need to explain lighting techniques to somebody.

Sibenik cathedrale and sponza in Dubrovnik were modeled by Marko Dabrovic in Lightwave and everybody can use it but it would be fair to write who made it. I dont think Marko would be angry on this guy becouse he left visualization field few years ago but other stuff is rip off.

I dont consider myself to be that good whatsoever, but once there was a guy stoopid enough to send me an email with his "portfolio" including an image ....that I made!!!! :mad:

I had some fun with him and sent him on his miserable way...

Sure, we have legal rights..if we want to spend the next 10 years in court and 10x the amount chasing the person or client. Sometimes a strongly worded letter works in the case of clients.......but honestly there is nothing much that we can do!

if you are sending samples or portfolio work digitally, y not just watermark your images? do you have any legal rights when it comes to someone else using images you have generated?
