Dave Bond
O.k. here is my situation: I have a rendering of a proposed Stadium Fieldhouse that must be rendered in Viz. Building elements that need to be in the scene are The fieldhouse itself, Bleachers along the internal facade, and possibly the existing track and a portion of the football field. The main idea is the design of the fieldhouse and bleachers. I don't think the client will supply photographs of the existing site for the composite so it probably will have to be composited without any type of photomatching. This is actually just the begining of my problems! We use Autocad,Microstation and REVIT for contract drawings. But I don't have any experience with importing that kind of geometry into VIZ or MAX for that matter. Would I be better off just modeling and rendering in VIZ with VRAY (we just bought a license of it btw.)? I have no experience with VRAY but have heard good things about it...just looks complicated as H#@$! Can anyone provide guidance for me under these circumstances...I am nervous to say the least! mauarduz
I envy you, that nervousness before a project like that is great ! The compositing to me is less complex if you dont have site photos, you can build EVERYTHING and make abstract what is not relevant. Importing DWG to MAX is a piece of cake, i prefer to import 2d into max and model in there, since max is a modeling program and the others are just trying to do 3d. Vray rocks and is easy to use, it sound complex but if you go to www.vray.info and do some tutorials on the weekend, youll be snapping your fingers and ready to go !!! Arnel
Hi Dave, Since you are using Revit i would recommend you model it in Revit. You could have an automatic CD's (construction documents)plus a 3D model which you can show off hand to your client as your design evolves. From there the client can already appreciate what you are trying to showcase as your design. Then link it to viz for final pesentation, if you have just recently bought Vray then use it it will give a very good presentation of your final product.
