antonio_frias
This morning I tried to open an Autocad 2006 dwg file and I got a message saying that there was a problem with my file and that I had to try to recover it using the RECOVER command. When I did this I got the following message: Reading Handle 171763 Object type AcDbHatch Error 13 (eUnknown handle) object discarded 10 seconds later Autocad crashes! I noticed that the error had something to do with hatches so I tried to open my file partially leaving out my hatch layers. The problem is that when I try to open my file partially Autocad opens a new blank drawing and doesn't even open the window where I can choose my layers. Does anybody know of a way to recover my file or is it lost forever?
JamesTaylor
how about the auto back up file?
antonio_frias
I tried that! I renamed it into a DWG file but I had the same problem. They were both saved at the same time, that is, when I shut down my workstation last night
rmaister
I don´t know if Autocad 2006 still uses the .SV$ backup, it´s from the automatic save option (R11 - 2004), so if you have it active it should have saved a copy. You only need to rename the file extension. Saludos Rodrigo
Fernando Lino
-Go to open, inside there is an option named "Partial open" maybe you would be able to extract some information. -another option is open a new drawing from scratch and xref the file that you want to recover...if you get something "bind" it -import the file to another application such as Sketchup, MAX, Rhino, etc....and export it back to CAD (at least you could get something ). -see if the file has been opened from a another computer in your network and check the temp files, backup files, etc...go under options>files to see where they are located. Good luck Fernando
