antonio_frias
I am currently working with a HP workstation XW4200 :P4 CPU 3.4GHz 2Gbytes RAM and an ATI FireGL V3100. If I pump the RAM to 3 Gbytes and replace my graphics card with a Quadro FX4100, will I see any diference in speed when I render in Max ( I only render exterior scenes)? JamesTaylor
the RAM will help but the graphics card does not participate in the renedring so will make no difference
antonio_frias
Are you saying that I will see no diference with the Quadro Fx when I render? What does it do then? Should I in this case pump the RAM to 4Gbytes and keep my ATI graphics card? Its a cheaper solution for me!
JamesTaylor
thats right, the graphics card just updates what you see on screen, you only need to upgrade it if you are having problems rotating and zooming in the viewports when working on large polycount scenes. if your looking for improved render performance RAM and processor are the key, maybe upgrading to Hyperthreaded proc or even dual core (but AMD are leading these at the min) would be worth while
